What sort of load does it present to the power amp?

How many can be run in parallel on a typical power amp?
Asked by: Isaac
The manual states that this device's Impedance is 150 ohms.The number of devices you can have hooked up depends on the impedance of the speakers you have and the rated lowest impedance load of the amp. I made a simple chart below. I calculated the results from resistance in parallel (||) formula(1/R total)=(1/R1)+(1/R2)+(1/R3)+...+(1/Rn)#of Devices in || Speaker Impedance = Amp Load1 - 150 ohm ||4 ohm= 3.896 ohm150 || 8 ohm=7.60 ohm2 - 75 || 4= 3.79775 || 8 = 7.233 - 50 || 4 = 3.70450 || 8 = 6.904 - 37.5 || 4 = 3.61437.5 || 8 = 6.595 - 30 || 4 = 3.52930 || 8 = 6.326 - 25 || 4 = 3.44825 || 8 = 6.067 - 21.43 || 4 = 3.37121.43 || 8 = 5.838 - 18.75 || 4 = 3.29718.75 || 8 = 5.619 - 16.67 || 4 = 3.22616.67 || 8 = 5.4110 - 15 || 4 = 3.15815 || 8 = 5.22If your amp is rated for a 4 ohm load and you have 8 ohm speakers, you can theoretically have more than 10 devices in parallel. In addition, your headphones will add additional impedance to this circuit. Thus increasing your theoretical limit of devices.Note: The schematic of the device looks like this is nothing more than an L-Pad circuit. It might be possible to build your own with a higher impedance (just be careful of your wattage ratings on your resistors).
