Product Details

RGB 300 LED 16 ft. Tape Lighting Strip 12 VDC Waterproof IP65

RGB LED tape strips are built with 3 bright surface mount RGB LEDs per every 2" for the best possible color density. These strips are great for use as indoor strip lighting or illuminating a display case. Connecting multiple strips together is made quick and simple with solder tabs on the end of each strip. Aggressive adhesive is affixed to the back of the strip for permanent mounting. 10 miniature flexible mounting brackets with 20 mounting screws are included for additional support.

Each strip is marked with cut lines for creating a custom length strip, or up to 98 miniature 2" strip segments with three RGB LEDs per section. Each section features four solder points (voltage +, green, red, and blue) to create one of seven different colors and for easy daisy-chaining.

To facilitate ease of use, voltage dropping resistors are built-in. Simply connect a 12 VDC power supply (up to a 12 VDC, 6A power supply is recommended and sold separately) to the solder points (see wiring diagram in Manuals/Resources section on the right) and go! Additionally, you can use either the 24 or 44-key remote control LED control unit for color control or to create amazing effects. Pre-terminated with a 5" pigtail for connection to an LED control unit (sold separately). CE and RoHS compliant, IP65 rated (no ingress of dust; complete protection against contact. Water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects).

Power supply sold separately, please refer to the Related Items section.

Note: Prior to attaching the LED strip to a surface, it is recommended that you clean the surface with alcohol and dry with a lint-free cloth. In order to connect the LED lighting strip correctly to a 24 or 44-key controller, align the black wire with the controller connector's arrow. The strip will only work in one direction, and you cannot harm the strip by connecting it backwards. Due to the IR operation of this product, it is possible for remote controls of other devices to inadvertently change LED settings. Connecting more than two 16 ft. strips together is not recommended. For runs longer than 32 ft., it is recommended that each strip be wired directly to the power supply.

Strip Specifications: • Minimum power requirements (per strip): 12 VDC, 2A • Overall dimensions: 0.44" W x 196.80" L x 0.125" H (11 x 5000 x 3.2 mm) • Segment dimensions (98 segments per strip): 2" (50.8 mm) L.

RGB LED Specifications: • LED type: SMD 5050 • Red: 624 nm wavelength, 18 lumens • Green: 518 nm wavelength, 45 lumens • Blue: 471 nm wavelength, 18 lumens.

RGB 300 LED 16 ft. Tape Lighting Strip 12 VDC Waterproof IP65
RGB 300 LED 16 ft. Tape Lighting Strip 12 VDC Waterproof IP65 is rated 4.4091 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great..... But be warnedI bought this extra strip to extend the Lavolta packaged lights. I found out that the white and yellow hues are not the same as the Lavolta strips. It quite noticeable when connected within the same space. My solution was to get another package set and use the extra controller for the independent strip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PerfectBrighter than I thought - which is a good thing. Easy to cut and add leads to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible and quite bright. These RGB LEDs are quite the buy! The price on LEDs has come to a point that they are competitive with incandescent or florescent for ambient lighting and being able to pick a color to fit your mood is a nice feature. Although these are not as easy to dial in a color as my 1st gen Philips LivingColors, they were a fraction of the cost.Cons: The plug that connects the remote module to the strip will not stay connected without being taped and I get a flickering out of the green LEDs. Not sure if it's the controller or the strip itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LED MagicI love this product. I just keep coming up with ways to use it. I have attached a video of my truck bed. Pictures of my house and in my office. on the house I change the colors for different holidays and when not in uses, for the holidays, I turn it white for security lighting. Next project is to install it on my boat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressively bright!Last year I had the bright (pun intended) idea to install an RGB LED strip light along the side of my camper. The light served multiple purposes, it provided good lighting at night and worked well as a night light overnight when dimmed and changed to red or orange. The discrete red, green, and blue LEDs always bothered me since up close I could tell they were discrete. So when this strip went on sale, I decided to use it to replace the discrete set. I'm glad I did too! This strip is quite a bit brighter and since all three elements are in each LED, even up close white looks white. With both strips I received there were no dead LEDs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use sunglasses! These little guys are bright! No bad LEDs to be found. Tape seems kind of weak, so mount accordingly. I did like the mounts that were included, but wish there were more. I used these with a music activated controller and was pleased. Parts Express: please get music controllers!

Suitable for under cabinet lighting?

I have under cabinet lighting in my kitchen. It consists of a 20W halogen bulb every 18" or so. The light looks great (nice bright white) but it generates a lot of heat, consumes about 180W (9 x 20W), and a bulb burns out every 2-3 months (~$5 each).Would this LED strip lighting produce similar light output in both intensity and color? One review suggests that tinkering with the controller gives a nice warm white light, but how bright will it be?Also, can power to the light strip be switched on and off by a wall switch, or do you need to use the remote control to turn them on and off?
Asked by: superspeeder
i know for fact that this will provide enough light for under cabinet design lighting, and that it will reproduce almost any imaginable light color as long as you order the 44 key remote, as the smaller one will not have the desired functions. what i do not know is where the memory is for the custom settings, as it is either the remote or the control box. if it is in the remote, then the memory will stay on even if you turn off the power. if it is in fact saved to the control box, then i wouldn't be sure if the memory will save the settings once the power is off. if i remember correctly though, when power is sent to the control box for power up, it will immediately turn white, or the last color it was set to, regardless of if the remote is used or not. i hope that you choose to purchase this device and the 44 key remote kit, as it makes a very nice finished product.

what's the best way to solder wire between cut pieces? where can i get etra connectors? that may be ideal.

Asked by: dB Audio
I know this question is over a year and half old, but I found a solderless connector for these LED strips. Search for "Solderless Analog RGB LED Strip Clip Sampler" should be from ADApt FRUIT (just the caps).

Has anyone used these on a boat where the source is 12v to begin with and if so, did you do anything other than wire to a simple On/Off switch?

I would want the ability to change colors but not sure if the controllers work entirely in the 12v domain.
Asked by: kweisner
You can most likely just connect it directly, but it may cause more wear on the control box. I cannot verify if that is or isn't so, but to all out avoid it, you can use a small automotive capacitor, like a 1farad job with the voltage meter attached. There are also some controllers that are intended for automotive use, that would suit the variable voltage much better. But all in all, I think you will be fine without anything else inline. If it burns out, return it. Best of luck on what sounds like a cool project!

Is a regulator needed with automotive use?

If I want to use these in a auto environment with voltage swings from 10v to 14v, will I need to use a regulator to keep it at a constant 12v or will they be ok?
Asked by: EasyFrag
NO. But it wouldn't be a bad idea. A regulator would need a higher input voltage to work rpoperly, say 20V.spec sheet http://www.st.com/internet/com/TECHNICAL_RESOURCES/TECHNICAL_LITERATURE/DATASHEET/CD00000444.pdfSo I suggest a fat electrolytic cap instead just to ease the brightness fluctuation some, say 2000uF at 25V.

what powersupply unit is recommended for this product

it says 12V/6A but I don't see such a power supply in the catalog
Asked by: MikeZ
Tech support recommends 129-077 which has the proper mating for the controller.

how flexible is the strip?

I'd like to use these to decorate the bushes outside for the holidays. Are they flexible enough to wrap around one?
Asked by: rif1
It's hard to judge flexibility. These are flexible enough to wrap around a corner but I don't think they bend the other direction very well. I suppose you could wrap bushes with it but it would look more like a swirl than anything.
