Red Flashing 5mm LED
Red Flashing 5mm LED is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Flashing" LEDReally my fault being a novice at electronics, but this is hardly a flashing LED. I would call it a flickering LED as the rate of "flash" is extremely rapid. I will need to add a timing circuit to get it to flash and this is what I was trying to avoid.

Is there a 1.7-2.2 Vdc flasing led

Asked by: jrmasi14
Unfortunately this is the only voltage range we offer for our flashing LEDs.

What is the rate of flash?

Asked by:
A flashing led is an led that has an integral circuit that does not control the rate. This circuit controls the phosphorus lamp coating to allow dead off/on illumination when powered by the control voltage switching.Because of this, without a rate control the led will flash according to the input voltage frequency. If you use USA line current then your frequency is 60Hz. The led is basically a diode (light emmiting diode) (LED) so it will see only the + cycle and a rate of 30 flashes per second (fps) are likely. This rate is more of a flicker than a flash.Check out simple IC 555 clock circuits on line. It is low cost and very easy. You can substitute a fixed resistor with a similar valued variable resistor to get a variable flash rate.
