QSC RMX 2450a Power Amplifier

The new RMXa Series amplifiers from QSC offer true professional quality performance at a new affordable price. This power amplifier's compact chassis is only 2 rack spaces high and less than 16" deep. XLR and 1/4" balanced inputs and Neutrik Speakon® and binding post outputs allow users a convenient choice of connectors, while user-defeatable clip limiters and selectable low-frequency filters optimize sonic performance.

Muscular Power Plant
The power supply is the heart of an amplifier, converting raw AC power from the wall to clean DC for the audio circuitry. The RMXa uses a powerful high-current toroidal transformer and ample filter capacitance to ensure generous energy reserves. This makes a critical difference in sound quality, allowing the amp to effortlessly punch out high level transients, even when driving abusive 2 ohm speaker loads.

Superior Performance
RMXa amplifiers deliver true studio-quality sound. A full complementary output circuit using the highest-grade linear output devices delivers ultra-low distortion (<0.05% THD) and a ruler-flat frequency response. SMT (Surface Mount Technology) triples small-signal component density, enabling QSC to pack up to 2,400 watts of power in a chassis only 2 rack spaces and less than 16" deep. And unlike other designs, RMXa output devices are direct-mounted to the heat sink for optimum thermal coupling and cooling.

QSC RMX 2450a Power Amplifier
QSC RMX 2450a Power Amplifier is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This amp makes money, keeps my rep growningI have DJ'd parties at arenas with one on and one off. Even at the end of the night with the speakers screaming, the bass thumping, they are running cool to the touch, and the clip lights ever so faintly flash. The sound quality is such that I would consider them for home use if my Paradigm monitors would accept a speakon cable. Might consider making the mod one of ther other reviewers mentioned. The fan is loud because it is pro grear. not for playtime. these make money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid, Great SoundI own several amps from the RMX line and they all share a few things in common. For one, their output power and sound quality is as good or better than any other amp in their class. Also, their overall build quality is surprisingly tough for an amp in this price range. Many people have commented that the RMX series are "built like a tank" and I definitely agree. The last thing they all share in common is also the only negative thing that I can say about an RMX series amp: their cooling fan is WAY too loud for any installation where you want the amp to be silent (home theater for example). However, this is easily remedied by replacing the stock fan with a 24-volt Panaflo (or equivalent) cooling fan. Once the fan has been modified (fairly easy to do), the amp is almost dead silent and performs like a champ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from would buy nothing but QSC's for my needsI have been running (3) 2450's in my amp rack for my (2) JBL double 15 SF25's..my (2) Madison 18" subs and my (4) Yamaha 12" monitors for about 8 yrs. no issues whatsoever and we play loud R&R so they take a lot of punishment. I would never buy anything else.....I will agree the fans are a bit noisy but with us that is not an issue. Great bang for the buck in my book. :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent power amp.At 4 ohms each, my customer's two sub-woofers can gobble up everything this amp delivers. The sound is powerful, pleasant, and the power is fairly abundant. I say "fairly" because I can clip this amp with ease.I'd like to have more headroom--we'll be purchasing another pair of subs and a power amp to compliment the aforementioned arrangement. Yes, he likes his bass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great valuePlenty of power, quality construction, only downside is the fan is noisey. Silent fan technology is not rocket science, QSC should improve this part of their product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OkIt feels solid. Good construction. Good sound quality. Fan is noisy for home theater use or quiet environments, but I don't think this really matters when shopping for a high power amp. I do believe that this amp is short on power. It may only deliver 2400 watts at 1000hz. I can very easily get the clip limiters to stay on when driving subs in 4 ohm mono load. It does shut down due to thermal conditions when pushed. The volume goes down and out for a few seconds then comes back on. The price isn't bad. No serious problems or repairs after more than 5 years of use. I would recommend it for typical or moderate use. If you need something that can really take long term abuse without shutdown, I would suggest another product.

What is the diference between QSC RMX 2450 & RMX 2450a

Asked by: Keyush
The only difference between these models are purely cosmetic. The "a" model has replaced the older standard 2450 with some new looks and that's all.
