QSC RMX 1450a Power Amplifier

The new RMXa Series amplifiers from QSC offer true professional quality performance at a new affordable price. This power amplifier's compact chassis is only 2 rack spaces high and less than 16" deep. XLR and 1/4" balanced inputs and Neutrik Speakon® and binding post outputs allow users a convenient choice of connectors, while user-defeatable clip limiters and selectable low-frequency filters optimize sonic performance.

Muscular Power Plant
The power supply is the heart of an amplifier, converting raw AC power from the wall to clean DC for the audio circuitry. The RMXa uses a powerful high-current toroidal transformer and ample filter capacitance to ensure generous energy reserves. This makes a critical difference in sound quality, allowing the amp to effortlessly punch out high level transients, even when driving abusive 2 ohm speaker loads.

Superior Performance
RMXs amplifiers deliver true studio-quality sound. A full complementary output circuit using the highest-grade linear output devices delivers ultra-low distortion (<0.05% THD) and a ruler-flat frequency response. SMT (Surface Mount Technology) triples small-signal component density, enabling QSC to pack up to 2,400 watts of power in a chassis only 2 rack spaces and less than 16" deep. And unlike other designs, RMXa output devices are direct-mounted to the heat sink for optimum thermal coupling and cooling.

QSC RMX 1450a Power Amplifier
QSC RMX 1450a Power Amplifier is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid PA PerformerI rarely write reviews but this amp motivated me to take the time. QSC and PE are excellent to deal with all around. They moved my 9 ratings to 10. I have a very busy mobile DJ and PA company that uses our equipment for it's intended purpose. Example - A 1200 watt amp will get run at or near the rated power for most of the show (up to 6 hours#. That is what I expected it to do when I purchased it. I own both QSC and Crown power amps. Both companies service and warranty their products very quickly. They both perform shoulder to shoulder with solid clean power. However, in my experience my QSC rmx amps have had to be serviced much less than the similar Crown amps. The clip LED lights on the QSC amp seems to trigger before the Crown indicators but when I had them checked out at a local shop they were #both brands# running at their advertised power #specs#. The tech said they may just be set to trigger sooner than the Crowns' for some reason. Be ready though The RMX amps are heavy. A typical setup for me will have 2 1450 and 1 1850hd in a rack to run my mains and subs. The rack is almost 200 lbs with a crossover, powerfilter, and compressor in it. They will get warm when you have them turned up but the only time I run an extra fan is if I do an out door gig in the summer. Other wise the chassis fans do just fine if the back and front of the rack are left open. They have never over heated on me. As for the sound... I use CV folded horn subs and either EV, B-52, or JBL for the mains and these amps really rock the party. I get a lot of compliments on the sound. That is good but I like it that the sound is DEPENDABLE ! There are more expensive larger amps out there but if your are looking to play for 200 to 600 people a couple of these amps will serve you well. The only hassle point the rmx amps have is the DIP switches to set filters, inputs, and bridge settings. You cannot use fingers to set them easily. They are really tucked away in the back #especially tuff to change when the amp is racked and wired#.. I purchased these for their price and was worried the specs may be exaggerated or some how they were inferior to my Crown amps. They were not. They were maybe even a little better actually. I have been using these for 4 - 5 years professionally now and am still very happy with my purchase Thanks QSC and PE.
