Rated 4 out of 5 by from Output Rating disclaimerThese Pyramid Power Supply units are nicely built. Just be sure of your amp needs. This PS4KX says 3 amp continuous, 4 amp surge, However, it will only supply 80 percent of the 3 amps for 20 minutes then will shut down for cooling and turn back on when cooled. The continuous rating is not true, if you need 3 amps continuous, get a larger unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff Maynard...If you've never looked into building something =, good, save yourself the time/trouble and buy this. The HD paint on heavy chassis surrounds a solid mass of PS hardware. Haven't seen the need to test if it meets it's rated/stated, I guess it's powering up this living room through 8', 2-way tower enclosures using <1/2 it current max. Powers up the new Pyramid 2x35w amplifier driving the Coral speakers. I didn't check for, nor notice any noise floor, the low notes and dynamic range and details are stunning, the leaky-cap reciever never sounded this good, finally had to be went the car audio amplification test system the living room never sounded so good ! Opinion 1 and 2 [had 'em almost a month, they've really settled in...I like these Pyramid hardwares.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent item for the best price I'vee seen. This is a great value on a well made product. The only con about which didn't matter to me at the moment is that some other units have a 12v auto style plug which could be handy. But I didn't need that so I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice dealI wonder if folks are using these on car stuff, or if they're hot-rodding T-amps for hifi? Regulated supplies make much better dynamics because the voltage doesn't go up during the quiet music, nor down during the louder parts, so this is a very cool little power supply. ;)

Can i use this in Aussie? we have the 240v

Asked by: kingpinfisher
This has 110-120VAC input only, so a step down converter would be required.

Could you hook up a car amplifer to this?

I wanted to know if i could hook up an amplifer to this because i want to power my car audio system in my room. Im only going to hook up my subwoofer to the amp and the amp will only be putting out 320watts rms. And it will be powering a sundown audio sa8v.2. I know that people have done this before with other power supplies but i wanted to see if this would do the job.
Asked by: Eddie.Rod96
Technically yes this will work although you will be limited with overall power consumption due to only 3A of output from the power supply. In order to get the most from the amplifier you will need to match the power supply amperage with the fuse rating in the amp. This is generally 30-40 amps or more.

Which is the best way to attach the cables from the small mini plugs that power outboard equipment ?

I thought maybe soldering ring terminals to the bare wires at the other end of the mini plug or using banana plugs ? Maybe some shrink tube added for strain relief ? Not sure. Can this power 2 different devices at the same time ?It would be replacing 2 wall wart power supplys
Asked by: Smokey Lynx
Ring terminals, fork terminals, banana plugs, the choice is yours. It can power more than one device so long as the combined power requirement is not more than 3 amperes at 13.8VDC.
