Pyle PMW8A 8" Midwoofer
Pyle PMW8A 8" Midwoofer is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent driver, but somewhat inaccurate specsJust from listening, I can tell that this driver's 1-watt SPL is not quite 98 db. It begins to distort at roughly 105 watts. With that being said, it's a very clean-sounding driver. Also, the frequency response actually extends down to 60 hz (+/- 3db), which is why I decided to use it with a single tweeter in a 2-way system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Advertised SpecificationsI once again doubt the advertised specifications of PYLE. This speaker is heavy, it can handle the 50 watts of evaluation power I supplied. I have seen you tube videos of others using this speaker in high power applications and it worked fine. I do not believe it produces 98 dB of sensitivity. I don't have the gear to measure, but I wish Parts Express would provide this service on its clients behalf. Pyle cheap amplifiers boast high power out, but don't produce the watts. For this I am skeptical of Pyle products. Yes I bought it any way. Would love to see those with test gear evaluate speaker sensitivity, its the only way to keep the manufactures honest. Third party testing is the best.

Would this product be suitable to replace a 8" 100 Watt, 6ohm mid from a 70's epi box?

Asked by: Torino
for best sound don't use pa drivers in the place of home woofers they talk more than they thump, and at the age of the speakers it is time to replace the other drivers, the crossovers need to be checked and then head for the deal's section for new matching components DIY! You can surpass the quality of the old drivers for very little $ and a little cleverness

Is mid woofer Pyle Pro PMW8A 8'' suitable to replace the woofers in BOSE 301 loudspeakers (old model late '70s)? Any alternative?

MODEL BOSE 301 has woofer part number 104836
Asked by: Nikosvx
Hi, Niko. Unfortunately, we do not have a cross-reference by brand, model, or anything of the sort. If your Bose woofers are 8-1/4" overall diameter, and the cutout in your cabinets is at least 7-3/16", this speaker should fit in the cabinets. The main concern I'd have with this particular speaker is that the frequency range starts at 100Hz, so you may want something with better low frequency extension. I've referenced a few suggestions below, be sure to observe the physical dimensions to avoid having to modify your cabinets, and the impedance to avoid damaging your amplifier.
