Rated 5 out of 5 by from ExcellentThey're just shy of phenomenal for value. I have ~12 of these in various recent installations, and they're firm performers so I picked up a few for myself for a personal project. Professionally, we used -8- of these drivers in a custom home theater where magnetic shielding was not an issue. Yes, you have to stay within limitations of the driver in terms of wattage AND driver excursion due to program material - how does that differ from ANY other driver? The laws of physics still apply. For those that are interested, according to Pyle the Xmax is around 12-14mm and they recommend a 2.5 ft^3 sealed enclosure, or a 35hz tuned 4" (8" long) ported enclosure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from update to earlier reviewI reviewed these in Dec. of '07, and am happy to report that they are still pumpin' out the beats!I had to up the rating on durability since I am running 600 watts rms to 2 of these in my Mazda. The earlier poster is right about watching out for the "MAX" wattages on speakers. Another thing to keep in mind is the polarity (+pos.&-neg.) of the hook ups. If one coil is not matched to the other it will play for a few min. then blow! Mine have lasted a year and I like my music loud enough the people on the next block complain!(as well as my wife)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT bang for the buck!Pyle is one of the VERY FEW speaker companys I use in my company. Even though they are supposed to have a lot of room, half the time its not fully needed. For the price, you cant beat it. And a note to future buyers, the reason why the other guys MIGHT have blown, is the fact that it says 1500 MAX Watt, but the RMS is about a 1/4 of that. With most companys, the RMS is around 1/2. Pyle makes there amps to this specification, so you do have to watch for that. Dont look at the MAX WATT's with these, look at the RMS and the RMS of the amp you are using. You SHOULD do this for any company as well. So if the others experiance was actually that bad, they didnt look at the RMS settings. Watch for that, and you will LOVE thses! They are like a affordable JL in my PROFESSIONAL opinion!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BadDo not waste your money on these terrible subwoofers. I built a sealed 5.0 cu. ft box for it, and tested it out. The speaker overloaded with a 125 watt amp! Terrible speaker!

Pyle PLBW154 Blue Wave 15" Woofer

Hi there just got 2 of these and would like to know what amp anyone would recomend thanks

Asked by: celicakeith
We have plenty of options for something like this. The Boss below would be a good choice based on the power handling of the subwoofers.

Am about to buy this speaker to replace the tired 15" original mounted inside a vintage 42" high organ Leslie. It has a closed back with the standard array of narrow wooden vents. Total cab volume is 15.76. Am I probably as OK as I'm going to get?

Asked by: Chronic Iguana
For the price it won't be bad, but you may also want to consider our IB385 Dayton woofer below. This will offer a lower Fs and about three times the Xmax, although it is about double the price.

Will these work well in a intimate Baffle design?

Asked by: Rolk
Yes these will work well for an infinite baffle application.

Now i got 2x 1000 watts amplifiers is it possible for me to hook 2 of these up with either one or both amps? Without blowing them of course

Asked by: LucasJ
There is never a guarantee that you will not blow up a woofer with any amplifier, although 1000 watts is plenty for this woofer.

what is the Xmax, frequency response, an power handling when used for home use and a box to reach 20-40Hz?
Asked by: speaker freack
Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify Xmax or frequency range on this driver. With a high Qts of 0.7 this will really only perform well in a sealed enclosure and in a home environment probably not play much lower than 35 Hz.
