PRV Audio WG 500 1.4" 140 degree W Line Array Waveguide 4-Bolt
PRV Audio WG 500 1.4" 140 degree W Line Array Waveguide 4-Bolt is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good horn for a line array cabinet!!I loaded this horn with a PRV 1.4" D3240-Ti/16 in a cabinet with 2-10" drivers for a line array proto type. It performs very well. It is very smooth with exceptional highs up above 12k. Brings clarity and great imaging to the program material. Highly recommended!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waveguide Lens: "What you should know"This WG 500 is absolutely and unconditionally a gem!!HF horizontal coverage was excellent and rolled off smooth. it's vertical pattern was not specified, however, i am almost certain its 10 degrees, where it impressively cut-off as sharp as a razor.Tests were done quick by ear.I may update this post after properly analyzing with measurement software but feel is unnecessary...."what you should know"This is a specialty item for a specific application.please do not just purchase solely based on the AAA+++ review.comments are intended for users familiar with Waveguide lenses and their operating properties.Waveguide CONCEPT in brief and short :Waveguides spread high frequencies very wide in the horizontal plain and very, very, narrow in the vertical. (EX. 140, 120, 100 X 15 or 10 degrees);whereas,Constant Directive and Exponential horns vertical's coverage is a medium wide plain.(EX: 120, 100, 90 x 40 or 60 degrees).Comparing vertical coverage angles in degrees, you would need 3X as many waveguides for vertical coverage,, per side!!SO THEN WHY WAVEGUIDES?Waveguides very narrow vertical design increases HF throw ten fold!! this is most deal for concert sound and theatrical venues where focus, clarity, loudness and overall intelligibility is critical. waveguides achieve this like no-other.Getting the mid and lo frequency drivers to match it is the trick and the hard part.matching is achieved through complex cabinet design, driver choices, amplifier power, hardcore digital processing and vast knowledge in acoustics, phase, cabinet tuning, structural, and rigging laws to fly cabinets..Ive included pictures showing the WG 500 waveguides inside the hornand my vertical curvilinear line array design Model# 2821-16

home theatre center channel use ??

OK - so it rocks ! Any thoughts on incorporating it into a home theatre center channel ? How about in multiples for better coverage ? How about in a line array for L-R in home theatre ?? Hmmmm, I'm a curious one
Asked by: Stereo DDave
Hello Dave,,,,I like your thinking because waveguides implemented for near-field home and studio use is like no other... im already doing it in my "man cave" and digital studio. What your gonna do is use the horns sideways. this will give you 140 degrees coverage left to right and 15 floor to ceiling... tilt cabs for ear level sitting and your good to go....you'll hear musicians flesh strumming the strings.Definitely design a crossover with separate level control for the waveguide or best is to go electronic...See image showing mounting direction of lens for this situation

I see the WG 500 is rated for a 1Khz throat

Looking for a driver that handles 1.2Khz for this waveguide.Any thought out there?
Asked by: mnow21
This will be in the specifications for the drivers on our website. PRV makes a 1.4" driver that will likely be a perfect match for this horn.

What driver is best

What is the best driver to use with these?
Asked by: mnow21
Any 1.4" exit driver will work. I use this horn with a PRV D3240-Ti/16 with very good results. You get what you pay for, I believe. An RCF driver will probably sound smoother. There's a reason some drivers are more expensive than others... But the PRV sounds fine in the cabinet that I designed and built.

The specs only say "4 bolt" for mounting type . What is the spacing measurment ?

Asked by: Doc Ivo
This is for use with 4 bolt type horns with an industry standard 4" diameter mounting circle.
