Rated 4 out of 5 by from work greatI put these in a jbl control5 system until I refoam the original speakers.I use these on top of a12in.speaker system which is why I went with 8 ohm.I don't think I will put the original speakers back in.these work much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best under $50There are so many 6.5" woofers that have aluminum voice coil formers (that which the voice coil is wrapped or 'formed' around) and sound like the tin can that they are, that these stand out immediately. I don't understand how these tin can woofers get good reviews. Some of them come close, but the tin can sound is still there. I have listened to a pair of these for over a week now in my center channel speaker and I am so glad to not only be rid of the tin can sound, but to be listening to real vocal tones.I have noticed that DVD audio recordings vary greatly on their center channel eq. These have a very flat eq response leaving you room to make up for that. I am a musician and studio tech and have these crossed over at 1.8 khz at 6db drop per octave, and after tweaking the eq, I have been able to get a quality sound on all of my home theater applications. I have used about 5 or 6 pair of woofers in this application and after all that frustration, it doubles the joy when I listen to theseDOWN WITH ALUMINUM VOICE COIL FORMERS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would purchase againI was a bit nervous buying these because how cheap they were. Once installed them I was amazed at how clear they were. I wish I had bought the 4ohm models cause I'm only pushing 35-40watts per speaker and it about run me out of my vehicle. They are very clear. Now I have to decide if I want to add the tweeters from prv. I really don't need them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and sound.I've installed these as replacements for my rear speaker woofers in a hobbyist home stereo. I was concerned that they might be to bassy for what I had in mind, but they actually sound perfect in the configuration. Easily slipped into previous cut-out and connected with no need for any adjustment. Had 'em in in less than 5 minutes. The price was certainly right as well!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It made us laughWe got this as a test as we like to tinker with sound ideas to create new things from low cost parts. We played this side by side with some other brands that were 4 times as much, and this little guy made us just laugh out loud. We had 4 of them, so we opened the other 3 to make sure it wasn't a fluke. All of them sounded great. We are buying the 8" version next, hope it is just as surprising but for the money, this is the 6" for us.

PRV Audio 6MB200 6-1/2" Midbass Speaker 8 Ohm

I am building a 3 way with these in mind. Is it critical for these to have a proper enclosure size when being used as the mid range? I think i should just be able to mount them in whatever my enclosure size ends up being due to the higher frequencies.

Asked by: jimbob
That is correct, the enclosure size for a midrange is not overly critical when crossed above about 250 Hz.

Is this speaker a direct replacement for a Fourier 6 woofer?

Asked by: Captd
Unfortunately we do not have a cross reference available. If you would email our tech support with as much information as you have for the driver you need replaced we can see if we have anything that will work for the application. tech@parts-express.com.

Would this work with a tweeter for a vocals-only PA speaker?

I am thinking about building some small PA speakers to be used for vocals only. Would these work for that?
Asked by: Drumolator

QES of 1.71 doesn't it mean it has a smaller than normal magnet? Would this make for a weaker speaker and loss of punch??

Asked by: Bongi
This type of midbass driver is not designed to play much below its free air resonance which in this case is 140 Hz. These are designed more or less for mid-range/upper midbass reproduction and will not affect bass performance. With a Q that high an enclosure is not required, although at those frequencies an enclosure is not required anyway.
