About the Designer
- Design Goals -

This being my first speaker building project, I put a lot of time into research before I dove right in. I was tempted to buy a kit or build a proven design, but at some point I decided that I wanted to go out on a limb and design the crossovers and enclosures myself.

I was looking for a set of speakers for my bedroom that will be used mostly for music, but also as the basis of a home entertainment system that is still in the works. I don't have the room or the money for a subwoofer, so I wanted a design that would go deep. I had been eyeing the Dayton 8" MTM on Dave Tenney's webpage, but the shear size of them was way too much. More appealing was the Dayton 8" two way design that he also has listed, especially the idea of a ported version. What turned me off from this design was what I thought was an overly complex crossover.
