Xantech 29110DBKIT Hidden Link IR Kit
- relatively easy to hook up, the cable from the remote unit should be longer
- pretty good range, it stops responding after about 25 ft in our relatively well lit open family room / kitchen
- receiver is a little bulky, not very easy to hide away
- bottom line: you've got to spend a lot more money to get a better features

Wired Home WHIRK1 Basic Decora Style Target IR Kit
This works very well and is easy to install.the only problem I had were the emitters not sticking to the unit. I removed the adhesive tape and cleaned it with Goo Gone and reapplied them with a silicone glue, the stay in place now. Make sure you keep the glue away from the light portion of the emitter.

Xantech 490KITRP Micro Link Kit
After fighting with WMC on my PC trying to control my sattelite receiver in the equipment closet, I waved the white flag after much cursing. I opened the xantech box and had the whole setup running in about 3 minutes. Couldn't have been simpler. Product is very well made and even the connecting block is cased in heavy gauge steel. Only possible way it could be better is if it handled RF as well. Price seems steep only until you use it.

Xantech 48085DBKIT LCD CFL Proof Dinky Link IR Kit Black
Great way to control all of the a/v equipment which can now be placed in an out of the way location. I have flat screens in both my den and master bedroom and have the cable boxes, a/v equipment etc. located in an equipment room in the basement. Provides a neat, clean installation in both rooms.

Xantech 29180KITRP LCD/CFL Proof Shelf-Top IR Receiver Kit
What a sweet little unit. Truly plug and play; had it hooked up and working in 15 minutes. So far no problems with sun, lights, or LCD screen either. Receives remotes from very wide angles and distances ... receives even if remote is pointing away from sensor head!

Channel Vision IR-5000 Plasma Proof IR Kit
Purchased this unit for a wall mount LCD TV set into a recess above a fireplace. All equipment was hidden in alcove behind TV. Similar products by Niles and other brands cost 3 to 4 times as much and frankly are not as quick to transmit commands. If you are in need of an IR Kit and your runs are not going to be of any great distance than this is the Kit for you.

Wired Home Advanced 4-Zone Tube Target IR Kit
This is a great kit of stuff for a super price. the tube targets are clean, little electric eyes that convey your every wish to the "brain center." The emitters tickle and scratch your signal to your amps, DVD player, CD player, or tape player without a whisper. Plenty of stuff to wire several locations, and plenty of wire to go around. Instructions are helpful, but you should have a A/V goober handy in case it's a little much rocket science for you.

Xantech 49085KITRP LCD/CFL Proof Micro Link IR Kit
This product does what I need, with only one small issue. I have a Dish VIP 622 satellite receiver and I a had to experiment with placment of the emitter. It still acts like it sometimes does not get a signal, but I am also using it with a Harmony 550 remote, so that may need adjusting as well. Also, I would say that the IR receiver "eye" is quite large, so it took some creativity on my part to hide it. Overall, though, I am very pleased because now I have all of my components hidden (and out of the way of curious 21 month old hands).

Xantech 17294RP Xtra Link2 Kit
Produce is relatively inexpensive and performs well. I have a IR repeater system that will be installed for the whole house - but this device was being used temporarily for watching TV from my cable box in the bedroom.
I've since decided that it works so well and is convenient that I will continue to use it in my garage - where I'll only need to control a cable box.
The only thing missing from this kit is a couple pieces of double sided tape for attaching the receiver/transmitter to the back of the TV/Cable Box (otherwise the short cables will be strained) and a extra piece or two of clear double sided tape for the IR blinker. I had to reposition mine a couple times and the tape isn't holding as well as I would like.

I use this product in commercial applications. I install plasma and LCD screens all across the country and anytime I use an IR extender it is a XANTECH brand.
