This product is power sensing and not signal sensing. If you have two or more peripherals, one or more of which remains in an "always on" state (such as an Apple TV or other Wi-Fi media server) this product will not be able to automatically sense which peripheral you want to be active and since it will be most likely located in an inconvenient place, you may have trouble reaching it to switch it manually.

I use this unit to switch video inputs for a DJ and Karaoke Service. I have a Numark 25+G with 2 inputs and a VOCO Pro DVD Player. It is very easy to switch between these units. No problems with the quality or price. Well worth the money....

I recently purchased a Toshiba LCD HDTV. The tv has many inputs,but there are only 2 HDMI ports and I found a need for 3. So, this HDMI switch accomplishes this at a very reasonable price. I plug my HD DVD player into port 1; my upconverting Sony dvd player into port 2; the HDMI out cable into the Toshiba and I'm in business. There are no electric cables to deal with only the one step hook ups of the HDMI cables. Parts Express is quick on service and reasonable on shipping. If you have a need for more HDMI connections than your device will allow this switch is your answer.

Component Selector w/Remote and Digital Optical 3-In 1-Out
I originally purchased the 180-930 and was very disappointed with it's performance. On pictures that contained LOTS of white it would cut out and drop the signal. I returned it and ordered this switcher.
So far the picture quality on the 180-936 is great! The switching of the optical signal is great!
So far it love it! It saved me from purchasing a receiver that would cost me $300+. I can continue to use my older receiver to switch from DVR, PS3 and Wii.

Great HDMI switch. I tried the auto switches and didn't have any luck. I didn't really want another
small remote to keep track off so I was very excited
to find out that my Harmony Brand remote controlled
the HDMI switch just fine. So I don't even need the remote that came with the switch. If you haven't checked out the Harmony remotes yet, take a look.

By switching the HDMI switch from 1 to 2 it allows me to cut the signal to a HDTV on the main floor so a signal from the Time Warner 8300 HD cable box in our basement can be passed through component video to a big screen HDTV in the theater room in the basement. A cheap solution to my problem of not being able to send the same signal to two different devices at the same time.

I've been attending River of Life Church in Portage, Wi for a few years now, and we recently bought a new sound system. Well, the audio side of the install went off without a hitch. In walks the video presentation. We have a video monitor on our altar for our singers, and one in our sound booth to view what our singers are seeing. Also, we have a projector, for the congregation. A VGA balun solved the projector problem, and this amplified splitter made it possible to run 135' of VGA cable, to our altar without losing resolution. We also have the ability for another source to go to any of the three monitors. This means we can show the singers something different that our congregation through the same splitter. Considering there is a 16 port version, I think we might just start buying monitors to put all over the church, just because monoprice and Parts Express makes it possible!!! Automatic HDMI Switch with IR remote 3 Port
To make a long story short: with my setup, the remote doesn't appear to work.
I have an older Sony LCD rear projection HDTV with one HDMI port. I was using a 3 in/1 out automatic passive HMDI switcher to switch between my cable box and a computer I use to stream movies. However, whenever the computer would wake up from standby (for example, to update its program guide), the output would switch away from the cable box without warming, annoying all the tv watchers in my home. I bought this one hoping to use the remote to switch manually between sources while still retaining the ability to switch automatically. However, the remote only works for about 30 seconds after I plug in the remote extender. After that, it doesn't seem to switch anything, even with two sources on and active (I tried new batteries in the remote). I was hoping that I could turn off the automatic switching function also, but that is not possible.
If you're looking for the cheapest automatic 3 in/1 out HDMI switcher, this is it. However, the manual switching function appears to be useless.
