Peavey 18" Low Rider Subwoofer
I have one of these in production for my shows. I custom built a 6th order bandpass for this driver. First night out, just this one sub with 500 watts from one side of a QSC RMX2450 was rattling the ceiling tiles and windows in a 15k square foot venue. I bought this driver for reliability, value, and the replaceable basket. In the year that I have been using it, it's been abused, over loaded, and generally treated very badly. I am happy to report that I have come to know that if anything in my rig works, it will be this sub.

Eminence Sigma Pro-18A-2 18" Cast Frame Driver
I play bass in a band - small to medium venues. My rig needed more chunk. I built a custom ported cab and installed the Sigma Pro 18. I use a 100Hz active x-over and push it with a 600 watt (@8 ohms, bridged) amp. Ay carumba! I have yet to bottom it out, and it THUMPS! Buy one - you will not be disappointed!

i got this a week ago w/ the 1000 watt amp its so loud. its in a vented box and all u can hear is bass. i love it its as good as the jbl for halfe the pice. if u love bass buy this sub. its so loud when i trun it up my walls shak no joke. if u are goin buy the jbl or the ev dont this is better. I LOVE THIS SUB.

Be sure to build a BIG box! Ours have nearly ten cubic ft. internal volume, which includes space for a thousand watt QSC amp and PLENTY of internal bracing.
You will definitely want to install wheels on leviathans like these. Make sure they are LOCKABLE WHEELS, otherwise, the cab will dance off the stage onto the litigious victims below.
You might want to use four 50 lb sand-bags per cab as we do to insure against unwanted loudspeaker motion.
No I am NOT kidding.
Make sure your AC drop can deliver plenty of juice.
Evacuate bowels before operation, or use your AARP card to get bulk discounts on Depends.

I have bought alot of replacement woofers in the past 15 years.Most of them from eminence,cerwin vega,p audio,peavey and electro voice.Most all of the above names was fair to ok,on sound and performance.I have 4 b-52 Lx18 boxes,in which i replaced all the above woofers in.The latest ones are the selenium 18wfh1p-slf 18".They are the best sounding,and hardest hitting of the bunch.Sound is deep and punchy,very,very clean.Also works very good in cerwin vega afterburners.One of top woofer out there.As with all selenium products you can't go wrong.

Selenium 18SWS1100 18" 1100W Subwoofer
We bought 2 of these after much discussion with a co-worker who had some good luck with the 800 watt model. Initially the speakers seemed to work well, and appeared to handle the proclaimed power rating. However,after only 3 gigs, both of the voice coils tore loose from the cones at preciselythe point where the two are glued together.
Although at lower power levels they work very well, with good clarity, and no discernable distortion, I honeslty do not believe that they can handle consistant 1000 watt running as advertised.
Personal experience proves to me that the 800 watt version of this speaker is more reliable, and capable of handling more power without any failures.

JBL 2242H 18" Maximum Output LF Driver 8 Ohm
I replaced my excellent 2241 with the 2242. The 2242 brings a tighter sound -similar in fact to the audio characteristics of the 2226- than the 2241 more rounded bass. The more powerful motor helps better control the moving mass. I find this woofer more versatile because it can be cut slightly higher. Its clean powerful bass are spectacular and the amount of information breathing from the upper bass register makes for very realistic ambiance.

I purchased two of these subwoofers and was very pleased with the sound and performance. These subs go down to 20HZ and their clarity and punch are great. I put them in a 6.6 cu ft. enclosure and WOW, heart pounding sound.

I GOT THE 500 WATT VERSION.. RAN IT ON A 500 WATT PER CH. 2500 IN ABOUT A HOUR IT WAS BLOWN...NO THE AMP DID NOT PEAK.. THE WOOFER IS JUST NOT WORTH IT. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

2 of these used in a large (3' x 4' x 6') bass horn loaded to 32hz. Excellent results! Very linear, nicely damped rigid cone handled 1200W RMS without break-up for a limited time.
Only complaint is power compression and overheating with very high inputs in a bass horn application, but that is to be expected since the horn allowed only about 2mm peak-peak excursion, depriving the driver of airflow across its coils.

Eminence Definimax 4018LF 18" Driver
I have two of these driven by a crown XS-1200 bridged. They are loaded in the large dance club style enclosure (as specified by eminence). I play recorded dance music as a DJ, and these are the only subs I have found that don't roll off around 60hz in a front loaded box. I am impressed with output and response in the real world with these.
