Dayton RSS315HF-4 12" Reference HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm
I've owned this sub for over a year and it's really a favorite of mine. I haven't experienced such clean and low bass perfomance like this outside of my IB sub installation. For the money I don't think there's anything better when it comes down to it. If there is another 12" sub out there that costs the same or less with the amount of performance the 12" HF possesses I would sure like to see and hear it. Still I don't think I will ever give up the RS. Plus it just looks great. Yep, it gets a five star rating in my book.

Dayton TIT320C-4 12" Titanic Mk III Subwoofer 4 Ohm
I have had this sub and the 12" DVC. Both are good subs. I have this in a 2.0 Cu.Ft. box with the 500 watt PE amp. Basically its the kit they sell here on PE's website. I just happened to catch each item either on sale or on scratch and dent. First off I do like the sealed design but after having the 12" DVC in an EBS alighnment(more low bass at the cost of SPL) I may some day try this in a ported alighnment. I do like the sealed design better for music though. I must say this. Dont judge a sub until you know you are getting the most out of it. For me it was placement. I was very disapointed at first with this sub until I moved it across the room. Now I cant be happier. It was trial and error for me. I thought something was wrong with the sub but it was just very bad placement in my room. YMMV

Goldwood GW-412D 12" Poly DVC Subwoofer
Thought is was a great buy and the shipping was very fast. The only problem I had was that it had 2 plugs instead of 1, but it was my mistake. Still very happy with the product.

Dayton SD315-88 12" Shielded DVC Subwoofer
The SD315-88 12" is one heck of a driver for the dollar. Highly sensitive, it doesn't take much power to get this guy movin'. Works equally well in sealed or ported boxes. My use was in a ported box.
Compared to my DIY 15" sub w/ 250W, the performance is probably 85% for half the cost. Goes almost as low and plays *almost* as loud. The sound quality is above average, too. It blends well with my mains without much tweaking. That's important in the long run.
It lost a "value" star because:
1.) The shielding could be a bit better. It caused more distortion than was expected 6' away from the CRT big screen.
2.) The Vas parameter is a bit higher than would be ideal. It keeps the driver from being used in a REALLY small ported box.
Few people need to worry about the #1 and even fewer need to worry about #2. If you're interested in upgrading your sub for home theater OR music and are on a budget, you can stop looking under your couch cushions for spare change. :-)

Dayton RSS315HO-4 12" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm
I've been using 2 of these woofers in a DIY speaker system for about a year now. These drivers perform great for both 2 channel music and HT. They are sleek and sezy and produce great bass when used provided with adequate power and when used within their limits.

Dayton DVC310-88 12" DVC Series Subwoofer
Made by Eminence, it's got potential. Very good low end with high output (mid 40's sealed!) Yet it will do it at the cost of a large enclosure (sealed 1.1 ft^3 minimum and up or ported 2.25 ft^3) and quite a bit of power. I have noted that at higher power levels there is somtimes a "slapping" almost similar to the sound of a coil bottoming out against the back plate. Later I confirmed that it was the tinsel leads as they are situated in an abnormal position. So you do have to be careful with alignment and power matching. Too bad they haven't redesigned it. Also the front mounting gasket is quite thick, it is cheaply made in that it has the potential of coming apart if not handled carefully. Tonal quality is quite warm in the smaller boxes even with the impressive F3's, which makes it hard to lowpass without a steep order filter (24db). It is somewhat robust in nature and will need a small midbass to help it blend or you will have to use large enclosures to tame it.

Dayton QT305-4 12" Quatro Subwoofer 4 Ohm
I have used the 12" Quatro in several systems. I chose it because it possesses an unusual combination of features including reasonably high sensitivity and the ability to deliver decent bass in a fairly small enclosure. If you need this combination this is an excellent woofer to choose. Highly recommended.

Peerless 830500 XLS 12" Subwoofer
Get this baby in a good box, run the numbers, good xover and this baby rocks. Transients are
clean. We have 1KW split stereo and it scared us. Punch you right in the freakin' chest, WITHOUT the MUD normally associated with this caliber of bass.

Dayton RSS315HF-8 12" Reference HF Subwoofer 8 Ohm
very clean bass reproduction.. not gonna go on and on when I don't have in room measurements.... will say it sounds great mated with a sa240 plate amp.. I have mine in a fairly large sealed enclosure and get great response for all kinds of music. Has plenty of kick and thump for movies... for the diy audiophile on a budget like me... this is about as good as you can get in this price range.. .. .i have two vega vega 12" subs in my car and this is far superior musically... has plenty of hit for your average bass nut but is great for realistic sound recreation as well and covers lower octave nicely. We have ours set up in a home theater and can't live without it!

Audiopulse AX12Q1 AXIS 12" Quad Coil Subwoofer 1 Ohm
Had the original TC sounds version of this sub, very close characteristics to this sub in particular. 1 12" with 1600w RMS @ 1 ohm in a 2.5 cubic foot box tuned to 30hz hit 150db. Freaking sweet is all I can say. Sold because of how loud it was. Hit the lowest lows at the same time though. Seriously worth it.
