Extremely cost effective solution for those wanting surround while remaining cost conscious.

Pro Wire ISF-147 Insu-Flate Ceiling Speaker Protector
My situation was a retro-fit with existing blown in insulation. In that scenario and installing a speaker from below the Insu-Flate does not stay in position which renders it worthless. The speaker wire, if nothing else will displace the cover. A better design might be an elastic opening instead of the spring steel. Then the cover could be attached right on to the speaker like a shower cap. In my case since I had access to the attic, is after installing the speakers I stapled the Insu-Flate to the drywall ceiling and ran a strip of duct tape all the way around. This will insure no blown in fibers will get in. Short of doing that, this cover will only protect large stuff from falling directly in as it will surely lift off the ceiling. Great idea, but not ideal.

Dayton CS620EC 6-1/2" 2-Way Enclosed Ceiling Speaker
The technology in this ceiling speaker is great. I really like the enclosed feature with 2 slot ports. This really helps the bass output that is not normally there from free-air apps. The best thing is that if you want to upgrade this speaker, just replace the speaker with a higher grade coaxial mobile audio speaker.

Dayton CS622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker
Again- First in-wall speaker/volume control install. This is a whole lotta' speaker for a
verrry resonable price, esp.for small areas. I used it in my kitchen for music or TV sound while
cooking.I used a piece of Sonic Control sound barrier foam directly behind the driver. This driver's wonderful on music, quite a surprise at it's price point!

Dayton US820C 8" Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
I just got these speakers and I am really impressed - Gold spring terminal post, Air core industor, and hi end cap. I was hoping someone would start putting good quality components on in-wall/ceiling speakers and finally someone is. WOW! Plus the huge magnet and good looking kevlar cone to push some large bass and the silk dome tweeter to deliver sweet natural highs. The speakers sound good already and they have not broken in yet.
The search is over. I am so impressed that I will be recommending these speakers for every install. I feel great offering such a good product to my customers and at a really good price.
Thank You Dayton. You guys rock!

I upgraded from the Dayton SDT4-RE8. I found the sound to be much better. I really liked the improvement in the bass response.

Dayton ES80C 8" Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
Over the years I ve installed a number of in ceiling speakers on my jobs. These Daytons are well built and almost fool proof. The sound quality is good (my customer was very happy) However if you are a Do it yourselfer you might want to modify these puppies with better capacitors. Parts Express offers several quality brands of film and foil caps from which to choose. The job would be easy since the caps are very accessible. In the stock form these speakers are very good; with high quality caps they will be even better.

Pyle Pro PDIC61RD 6-1/2" Round Ceiling Speaker Pair
Typical Pyle speaker. Very efficient, clear sound. Sound nicer than all of the other low cost ceiling speakers in my home. If you are on a budget, these will be great. I wish they had spring loaded wire connectors. They have the cheap terminals that accept a female push on solderless crimped terminal (like item #095-302). Other than that they are well worth the price.

Pyle Pro PDIC51RD 5-1/4" Round Ceiling Speaker Pair
Installed these speakers for some extra sound in an open kitchen/livingroom. They don;t have the best sound quaility, but worked very well at filling the area with sound.

Preference K-825 8" 2-Way Ceiling Speaker Pair
For the money I was expecting better performance from these speakers. Not as much bass as I thought there would be from an 8" speaker, even with back boxes.

|
Dayton US650C 6-1/2" LCRS 15° Angled Ceiling Speaker
I was very impressed with the overall quality and build of these speakers, and also how well they functioned in a surround sound home thatre setting. I would love to see an 8" model..

Dayton US822C 8" Stereo Ceiling Speaker
This is a descent sounding speaker for the money. In my opinion, it is good for background music applications. My main complaint is the fact that it has neither great sounding highs or lows. Nice spring loaded connectors work well. It seems to be well made and installed nicely. Good looking finished product.

MTX H625CE 6-1/2" Enclosed Ceiling Speaker Pair
We have used these in a number of installations in homes and in university classrooms. The enclosed back, ease of installation, and quality of sound make this a good buy.

Dayton ES50C 5-1/4" Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
I purchased these ceiling speakers for my camper and the sound quality is way better than what was stock 5-1/4 speakers. The one problem I had was these daytons did not fit into the stock location without a jigsaw. If I knew this I would have fit in some 8" coaxials. All together the daytons have better lower bass and much more crisp highs and for $50.00 I won't complain anymore.

Dayton ES65C 6-1/2" Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
Not the best I've ever seen--certainly not the worst, either. Good value, solid "middle-of-the road" performance. Not all speakers (or kids) can be "above-average"--nor should they be. This is perfect for the sound-reinforcement application I'm using it for, and I'm pleased with the performance, quality, and price. Will buy again if the need presents itself.

Dayton US622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker
this product meets all my expectations. I had it installed in less than an hour and it completely filled the "sound void" in my kitchen adjacent to the main entertainment center.

Allison Acoustics AL8ICS 8" 2-Way Stereo Ceiling Speaker
I used this speaker to add background sound to my bathroom, now my time spent in there will be more enjoyable and entertaining.

MTX HT622BDP 6-1/2" Home Theater Di-/Bi-Pole Ceiling Speaker
When only a ceiling mounted surround speaker will work as in there is only one side wall or no side walls, this speaker does a remarkably good job as a true surround sound speaker.

MTX HT625AC 6-1/2" Home Theater Angled Ceiling Speaker Pair
The installation was quick and easy. The sound is very good as well

|
MTX HT625C 6-1/2" Home Theater Ceiling Speaker Pair
Do not buy any new pairs of these if you plan to match them to any pair you bought greater than a month ago. I did a home theater for a customer and needed one more speaker so I ordered another pair. MTX is now using an off-white color instead of the white they used before. The new color almost looks grey when you hold it up next to the previous color. Just thought I would give any installers a heads up. Still great quality as before

|
MTX HT825AC 8" Home Theater Angled Ceiling Speaker Pair
I installed four these speakers in a 7.1 system as the surround and rear surround speakers and all I can say is that they ROCK!
|
|
MTX HT825C 8" Home Theater Ceiling Speaker Pair
Great quality speaker! In my opinion at its price point, there is not another speaker on the market that delivers the combination of performance and features that the HT825C brings to the table. The only minor drawback is the speaker grill is a little too flimsy, and if you are not careful, it may bend,so be careful.

Dayton US850C 8" LCRS 15° Angled Ceiling Speaker
This speaker (Dayton US850C) and the Preference K-8LCRS have nearly identical specs and obviously are made by the same manufacture. I purchased a pair of each to compare them as the US850C is significantly less expensive while the Preference is rather costly. It turns out you get what you pay for. The Preference version has a much more elaborate crossover, a different woofer and a different tweeter. For both, the angled design makes a huge difference for applications where you're not directly under the spearkers. And the Dayton's are not awful, but the highs and upper midrange are weak making them sound lifeless. The lower midrange has an unpleasant hollow quality and the bass is strong but muddy and doesn't reach as deep as the Preference version. Considering the drivers look nearly identical to the Preference version, and the specs are the same, the sound is really disappointing. They will play loudly without complaining, but if you're picky about the quality of your sound, you might be better off with something else. See my review of the Preference K-8LCRS which are quite nice but also fairly expensive. As budget angled surrounds the Dayton's might work. For music, or front channgels, however, I'd go with something that sounds better. One warning: They require a huge opening so if you don't like them, you're not likely to find anything else to fit in the cutout (besides the Preference K-8LCRS which is exactly the same size).

Preference K-8LCRS 8" Angled Ceiling Speaker Each
This speaker (Preference K-8LCRS) and the Dayton US850C have nearly identical specs and obviously are made by the same manufacture. I purchased a pair of each to compare them as the US850C is significantly less expensive while the Preference is rather costly. It turns out you get what you pay for. The Preference version has a much more elaborate crossover, a different woofer and a different tweeter. They really sound quite good and the angled design makes a huge difference for applications where you're not directly under the spearkers. They have surprising bass, play loudly and a fairly neutral frequency response. They don't rattle or buzz and the grills are nice with backing so you don't see the drivers through them. These are among some of the better sounding ceiling speakers I've heard even compared to some of the high-end brands. One warning: they require a huge opening so if you don't like them, you're not likely to find anything else to fit in the cutout (besides the US850C which is exactly the same size). If you're curious about the US850C, see my other review. They sound muddy and lifeless in comparison.

Pyle Pro PDIC60 6-1/2" Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
These sound great. I used them in budget driven home theater and whole house audio. The picture is of a full grill cover when in fact they have a center cutout for the tweeter to push out. They don t look bad, but I like the clean look of a full smooth grill. Had I known that I would not have bought these.
