Admittedly, I got my soldering station on sale for ten bucks, but even at its regular price, where are you going to find a variable-temperature soldering station of this quality in this price range? Be aware that, on high, it gets hot! You will need to turn it down for delicate semiconductor work.

Variable Wattage Soldering Iron 0-50 Watts
I've been using this iron now on and off for about a year and I am thoroughly impressed with it's durability. I am still using the original tip and it is still in perfect condition! NEVER have I had an iron used for at least 30 projects last that long. And it is so sharp and narrow, it can be used for anything. I love it!

30 Watt Soldering Iron
I added a rectifier with a bypass switch in series in the power cord for switchable 15/30w. I also cut 6 gauge solid copper wire to length and replace the tip every few weeks to help me prevent old tips from getting stuck in the heating element from neglect.

Its not the best but it certainly works well enough. Only complaint is the tip sucks and needed to be replaced soon.

Weller WLC100 Soldering Station
I've been using this dandy little soldering station for a few years now and have been very happy with it. My wife bought it for me as a gift, and at first I was disappointed that she didn't get one of the "professional" (i.e. light blue) Weller models. I guess that was just the "tool envy" snob in me. I've used the pro models at work in years past, so I'm familiar with them. Can't really see where I gave anything up with this "lower-grade" model, except for the higher price. I ve used it quite a bit and it does everything I need to do. I have no complaints.
