Pioneer TS-D1720C 6-3/4" Component Speaker System

To create new TS-D1720C speakers, Pioneer developed the industry's first basalt fiber made from natural rock interwoven with aramid fiber. Used in the surface layer, this aramid/basalt fiber material is highly rigid and better absorbent, enhancing stability and maintaining integrity throughout a wide temperature range. D-Series speakers feature an exclusive rear chamber tweeter enclosure. It extends mid-range frequency for improved vocal imaging and staging. The built-in -12dB/octave HPF and LPF crossover improves the transition from mid to high frequency, for a smoother mid-range to tweeter response. Audiophile-grade capacitors and inductors are used, and all components are encased in a clear acrylic cover for protection.

Specifications: • Max power: 260 watts • Nominal power handling: 60 watts • Frequency response: 30 Hz to 33 kHz • Sensitivity (1W/1m): 88 dB • Impedance: 4 • Mounting depth: 2-1/2" (64.5 mm) • Cutout dimensions: 5-5/8" (144 mm).

Pioneer TS-D1720C 6-3/4" Component Speaker System
Pioneer TS-D1720C 6-3/4" Component Speaker System is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A jazz lover's idea..I just purchased these and used them to replace the stock speakers from a Scoche box purchased at ???mart. First I pulled out the stock speakers. I cut a 4 inch hole inside between the center wall of the box. If you leave out this step, you will have considerably less bass and volume response from this mod. I installed the crossovers next, then wired the speakers and connections next replacing with better gauge wire. I used silicone to seal the inside of the speaker connectors from the rear as they leak air and are very noisy when the box is played. Then I stuffed the box with acoustic foam to the rear of the box on both sides. I also sealed up the woofer with silicone to get a good seal. I reused the original tweeters by cutting their centers out to mount the Pioneers tweeters. They must be well glued and sealed with silicone as not to leak. You should run a sweep from 38 to 120 hz with a tone generator to test for leaks. Unfortunately my experience showed that between 39 to 45 hz, the tweeters picked up minute resonation.. but it only happen using a tone generator and does not occur during music playback. It took about 15 hours of music playback to break in the speakers. This makes a great bluetooth speaker with Lepai2020a and especially with a TDA7498L. You are not gonna believe from the sound that these aren't bigger speakers considering the footprint it takes up. With the exception of the tweeters, everything is a direct replacement. The only thing left to do is build a front grill. It was definitely a fun project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome soundI've owned these for 3 months, running a 400 watt class a/b amp to them. There in the doors of my astro van and you can hear them clear as day! I will only replace them if they update to newer version!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Giving Brilliance a new name....I installed these in a Kia mini van that has a pillar location for the tweeters. The tweeters are BRIGHT....With the highs EQ'd down they are still too bright. You can hardly be in the car with these on.I replaced the tweeters out with a different pair of pioneer tweeters and I could finally hear how nice the speakers are.So I have four tweeters if any one wants them.....

Pioneer TS-D1720C 6-3/4" Component Speaker System

Is 100 watts to each side too much power? I plan on using the Pioneer GM-D8604 front channels and the rear channels will be bridged to power 4 Tang Band 6.5 subwoofers? I afraid of blowing the speakers, hopefully with the gain turned down that wont happen

Asked by: texasborn81
It is more than you will need although this is not a bad thing. As long as you do not turn it up to the point of distortion you will not have any issues.
