from Excellent Value and more than gets the job doneI have been running this cabinet for a couple of weeks now in one of my home theater set ups. I am very happy with the performance of the Pioneer SP-C22 Center Channel speaker. In a 5.1 or 7.1 set up the center channel carries the heaviest load of all the speakers. It is very important to have a speaker that can really kick and not break up. I got caught in a one thing leads to another after replacing my Surround receiver with a new Onkyo unit in one of my home theater set ups. The previous unit was a package deal with extremely low ohm speakers. After realizing I could not run them on the new head unit I purchased a Dayton BR1 Kit for my mains thinking I could get by some other smaller speakers I had laying around for center and rear channels. After all the mains are what is important, right? Wrong. I love watching movies, action movies and I push them really hard. That is why I got 115 watts in the receiver. The smaller speaker I was using for the center channel could keep up volume wise but was a serious mismatch in tonal quality and depth compared to the BR1's. I did not plan on buying any of this stuff but had to replace my receiver because the old one died and needed to keep this center channel purchase as cheap as possible. I went with the Pioneer SP-C22 because it used 4" drivers, same as the BR1, I had heard some pretty good things about the new Pioneer Speaker line from professional reviewers and most of all, it was under $100 bucks. I am thrilled, it matches perfectly, hits hard, sounds full and crisp and provides more than my bleeding ears can handle. I have speakers that cost over 6 times as much in my real home theater and this unit does almost as well at a fraction of the cost and I am very pleased with my purchase. By the way, I had to replace the rears as well. Went even cheaper with some MTX cabinets (shown below) and they are doing a great job as well.
