Product Details

Piezoelectric Sounder Buzzer Element

OBO Pro.2 piezo electronic sounder element. This sounder element is great for many alarm-type projects, including security systems, microwave ovens, smoke alarms, warning buzzers, or miscellaneous detectors. 29.5 mm dia. x 9 mm H. Requires external oscillating circuit for buzzer operation. Measurments between pins 1/2 & 3: 1.13"; Between 1 & 3: 0.97".

Note: See the attached spec sheet for external drive circuit recommendations. This method produces sound by driving the piezoelectric diaphragm with electric signals supplied from an external oscillating circuit such as a multivibrator. Piezoelectric buzzer can also work as a speaker. In this method, a mechanical oscillation Qm of the piezoelectric diaphragm is damped properly to provide a wider frequency band of the sound pressure. This unit can be used for sounds of home electric appliances, key-in sounds of OA equipment, alarm sounds of digital watches and the multiple sounds like those used in electronic games. Great for ringers, transmitters, receivers of telephone sets, card radios and speakers of crystal TVs. The spec sheet shows examples of circuits to use for specific applications. How do you connect buzzer

I have not been able to get buzzer to make any sound using a 9V battery and all possible combination of connections. The spec sheet seems to indicate that an external circuit is required.
Asked by: reller
Yes, an external circuit is required. You can see examples of various suitable circuits in the product's specifications, listed above under "Manuals/Resources," or by following this link:
