Product Details

Peerless TC6WD02-04 Silver Series 2" Midrange

Tymphany designed the Peerless Silver TC6WD02-04 to be a cost-effective, high performance 2" speaker for installation in televisions and other compact applications. Ultra-flat frequency response from 120 to 3,400 Hz is made possible by the patented PentaCut NRSC cone that helps to dampen and control cone resonances.

With a steel frame that measures less than 2-1/4" wide, this 2" driver is perfect for use in micro monitor 2-way speakers, satellite speakers, and even compact, column line array speakers. A 4 ohm voice coil and powerful magnetic motor are used to increase sensitivity to nearly 84 dB (2.83V/1m), which is impressive for a driver of this size. Additionally, this midwoofer can be repurposed as a full range speaker in on-axis applications that tolerate reduced sensitivity (response from 3,500 Hz to 20,000 Hz is listed at roughly 74 dB, 2.83V/1m).

Durability is enhanced by the use of a rubber surround and hardened dust cap, and the 0.70 Qts optimizes the TC6WD02-04's performance when installed in sealed as well as ported enclosures.

Peerless TC6WD02-04 Silver Series 2" Midrange
Peerless TC6WD02-04 Silver Series 2" Midrange is rated 4.25 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing clarity, flat responseI haven't tried using this 2" driver full range, so I can't comment on its suitability to that end. However, its performance as a midrange in an active three-way is excellent. Per cabinet, I have eight of these employed along with dual Morel CAW 938s and a Morel MDT 39. The mids are rear-mounted, open-baffle, four vertically on each side, on narrow "wings" that are 1/2" thick with a 3/16" round-over on the cutout.Sound reproduction is amazingly lifelike and spacious -- side to side and front to back. Instruments can be precisely located on the stage. Transitions with woofers and tweeter is indiscernible. Played plenty loudly, there's no hint of audible distortion, whatsoever. I think this is the best "$30 midrange" I have ever heard.Crossover is accomplished with a Rane AC23B; 24 dB per octave at about 300 Hz and 2500 Hz. The eight mids are fed with 25 clean watts into their combined 8 Ohms. No EQ. Fills a fifteen foot high peaked-ceiling living room quite nicely :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little driver BUT....I bought a handful of these to tinker around with, and to build a phone dock for the better half. Nice quality driver at a great price. The terminals aren't bad at all and soldering to them should be no problem for anyone with basic skills. Now for the BUT part.. HF off axis response is not good at all. Plan on adding a tweeter if you're building something truly full range.Overall I'm pretty happy with these little guys.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from for the price its okthe quality sound is what its about. the terminals make this a horrible buy. the terminals break easily and soldering is totally out of the question. but the overall sound is amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from lots of bass, surprised there is not more top endi have been trying out multi speaker wave guide designs and this speaker looked like a good candidate. i designed a 22x3.25x5 box using 4 drivers wired to 4ohm. i needed to add a HiVi TN25 Fabric Dome Tweeter with 10 uf cap to get the top end i wanted.the bass is impressive for a small design but the vocal mid-range is a bit off for my taste it is a bit muffled, i would like it to be more clear but i'm sure to do that it would loose a lot of bottom end. i think a slightly smaller box like 4" and not 5" might improve it and im sure adding a x-over to the drivers and tuning the tweeter or using a small mid-range would help.

Peerless TC6WD02-04 Silver Series 2" Midrange

Would it be possible to use 8 of these in a full-range line array by adding active EQ to regain the HF end of the spectrum to 20KHz for use as HT mains? Can this be done without the use of added tweeters and associated crossover?

Asked by: W4ZQ
It is certainly possible. Some people prefer that the response drops off as the frequency goes up so this may be a setup if that is what you are looking for.

Hi, would a skinny 24x line array (6s/4p) be overkill and a waste of time? perhaps supplemented by a bullet or horn for the HF above 5KHz and a Sub below150Hz for a HT application… Or will 12 (3s/2p) be enough. Thank you

i want to use 4 speakers,  as 2 sets magnet to magnet in bluetooth app with a passive radiator (tang band 3" or peerless 3.5") i realize i might need some tweeters.Dayton Audio ND16FA-6 5/8"  in a 11" x 4" x 3" box ,would this work to extend bass

Asked by: germs
The passives will not help extend bass for these drivers. They will be limited to around 100 Hz regardless, and you would actually be better off porting them and getting more output down to around 100 Hz. Using a passive radiator will just hurt this response.

What would be the optimal enclosure volume and port specs for a single driver? Thanks!

Asked by: RustyC
I would recommend 0.031 cubic feet with a 1/2" diameter, 1.5" long port for a tuning frequency of 100 Hz.

List box demensions and port dmensions for a 4 speaker series paralell system please That is optimum box, by the way. Thanks

Asked by: Studier
I would recommend a volume of 0.12 cubic feet total, with a single 1.5" diameter, 3" long port for a tuning frequency of 100 Hz.

Can you wire 25 to get an eight ohm load?

Asked by: Tyler Warren
Unfortunately no, 25 of these drivers can only be wired to a 4 ohm load.
