Peerless 830986 3" Full Range Woofer

Tymphany/Peerless full range drivers set the standard for quality audio in products including flat panel televisions and sound bars, MP3 and cell phone docking stations, and multimedia PCs. With their high power handling, smooth, even dispersion, and low distortion, the Peerless 2-1/2" full range drivers can be paired with the Tymphany LAT250 for great bass performance. A neodymium motor structure and double-venting system keeps dynamic range intact, as the transducer can handle more power and dissipate excess heat efficiently. An anodized aluminum dome provides superior sound dispersion and off-axis response. A semi-progressive surround reduces distortion, especially at high output through long excursion. The driver's direct connected dome dust cap (attached to the magnet system voice coil) improves dispersion at high frequencies, providing superior sound at the higher frequencies. The inserted copper cap on the pole piece ensures control of the system impedance, thereby extending the upper frequency range.

Peerless 830986 3" Full Range Woofer is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Way better than stock!Used the Peerless 830986 3" full range to replace the original "stock" drivers in my Tivoli radio and am very pleased with the results. Bass is way better, mids & highs are up a notch also. Thinking about replacing the drivers in my computer speakers with these as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practically BoseI got 2 of these drivers and built a dock with them and a lepai amp. I then compared it to the Bose portable dock which cost me $400 and it was almost as good for less than 1/4 of the price!! They actually sounded better on songs with smooth acoustics and lyrics such as jack johnson or john mayer. The only thing they aren't as strong on is the low end. Bose still has em on that but for the price u cant complain they sound amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice MidrangeI have had these for awhile now and they sound very good in my 3-way setup. Its running with the Tang Band 25-302SH 1" Shielded Neodymium Dome Tweeter and Peerless 830946 SLS 6.5", bandpass around 500 to 4000. Gave it 5 stars for the plastic frame, made easy Dremel work to get it to fit in the sails of a 99 intrepid. Its a tad expensive, wish I could have caught it on sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really Good SpeakersReally good speakers, I made 2 cube speakers for my TV system and I'm really satisfied with the quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mind BlowingI dropped this thing into a 76" Voigt pipe and after playing with the stuffing a bit and came away with an amazing result. To hear full bandwidth and great imaging from a 40' by 4' by 8' enclosure with a single 3" driver near the top is more than one expects. Nice rollout at 52hz and tight mid and extended highs is a treat. I'm going to add a TB 6 in a TL to offset the bottom next and will get back to you with results ASAP. I'm going to get a couple dozen of these and see what a vented dual chamber yields.

Peerless 830986 3" Full Range Woofer

I have a boombox by sirius subx1r-1006006092, can this woofer be used as a replacement..Thank You

Asked by: Amen
Unfortunately we do not have any kind of cross reference for this type of thing. The dimensions for this speaker are one the website. You can compare these to the original speaker, along with impedance to see if it will be a good match.

the hole in my speaker box is 2 1/2 this is the size of the speakers a need

I need to replace my 4 jbl 135/sat speakers in the manual said is a 3'' speaker, is 3'' or 2 1/2 speaker.Peerless 830986 3" Full Range Woofer fit in my speaker box
Asked by: nene
The size you need to look for is the total speaker diameter, in this case 3". The hole sizes will not all be the same however, so you will need to double check the cutout diameters to make sure it will fit a 2-1/2" diameter opening.

surround speakers

I am wanting to place 4 of these drivers into a suitable box and have the drivers facing up/down/left/right to better envelope the room, can someone ofer any advice on this project
Asked by: loupy31
The recommended enclosure for four of these is almost .5 cubic feet which is quite large. These won't be able to play much lower than 120 Hz anyway so box size really doenst make much difference.

What would be the best type of enclosure/dimensions to make an ipod dock with 2 of these in it?

i have 2 of these drivers so what should my air space be? and should i stuff this thing? proper dimensions for best sound? port size for 2 drivers?
Asked by: buck3690
These should do well in approximately 0.50ft³ with a 2" x 2" port tube. Stuffing would be a matter of personal preference; the amount of stuffing that sounds best to you is the "right" amount.

what size box?

What size box will i need to get all i can get out of this speaker? I would like 50 hz if the speaker will do it like it says.
Asked by: derek82
This driver will produce 50 Hz., just not in useful quantities. 85- 15,000 Hz. might be a more appropriate estimate of its performance. The driver is good to 50 Hz.(in theory, your mileage may vary) with a box 4 inches wide x 9 inches tall x 10-9/16 inches deep (inside dimensions) with a 1 inch hole in the front (port).Loose stuffing to mostly fill box interior. Don't block the port with it. I recommend crossing at 4000 Hz. with a good tweeter for best results. Use 1/2 inch plywood or MDF.
