Peerless 830667 8" Paper Cone SLS Subwoofer
Peerless 830667 8" Paper Cone SLS Subwoofer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Woofer/SubI bought this as a replacement for an older foam surround woofer. I like the rubber surround feature. It dropped in nicely and once connected and sealed, it performs beautifully. This unit was probably designed for a vented cabinet, but I'm using it in a sealed acoustic suspension setup. It still has the deep bass, but it needs equalized to bring it up to matching levels. Power handling is above the woofer I replaced, so that's no problem. It has a tight response. The crossover point is at 600hz, which is no problem either as this woofer has response to 2khz, according to specs. I'm very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No purchased yet but very interestedCame across a build for the "Redneck Subwoofer" that sounds so intriguing, and so low budget that it's almost silly.'m going to give it five stars across simply on the merits of half a dozen reviews of this sub project that I've read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice subwooferI'm using this speaker in an H frame OB project. It performs nice in this application although its a bit X-max limited. Other than that its a nice quality speaker true to the Peerless brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Sound Great Value!I'm very impressed with this little sub. I made a 1.6 cu. ft. enclosure with a 3" x 6.75" long flared port. F3 of 33Hz, with +2db bump. I'm powering it with a Bash 300 plate amp. and the results are very musical without being boomy. It has enough punch to shake things up, more than you might expect from an 8" subwoofer. You will be very pleased with the Peerless SLS for value and performance. Cheers!

What size box would you recommend for in a vehicle? I am looking at doing two of these in my gti. Will be building 2 sealed boxes for them So each sub has its own box. Will .25 ft work? Need to know what internal volume it needs. Thanks.

Asked by: The Hoff
0.25 will work but if you can get closer to 0.5 heavily stuffed you will have a little better bottom end.

Hi also following the transcendent sound story but wondering about the sealed box down firing. I am a novice and wondered about this and the gap needed to the floor etc. Any input welcome. Thanks

Asked by: MarkW
I usually recommend a gap that is 1/4 to 1/3 the diameter of the woofer for a downfiring application.

Can I use this in a "3-way" system with the woofer and a midrange crossed over at 1600? I am a little wary about using a "subwoofer" as opposed to a woofer.

Asked by: Captain Paintball
I would not recommend crossing this any higher than about 800 Hz.

What size vented box at what port tuning frequency would be best to get this sub to play a little below 30hz?

Asked by: TadCat
These are best suited in a sealed enclosure of about 1.3 cubic feet for in room response into the low 30's. A vented box is 2.7 cubic feet with very peaky low end, a 3" diameter port that is 6" long will tune the box to 29 Hz.
