In most cases the temperature reading is fairly accurate. It is important to note that the reflectivity of the surface of the object being measured can create errors in the reading. The more reflective the surface, the more likely the reading will be in error.

I bought this noncontact temperature measuring device to do a thermal integrity test of windows, walls, floors and ceilings in my residence. It is easy to use and gave accurate temperature readings on all the surfaces I tested. The temperature display is easy to read, even in dark places, because of the lighted window. Temperatures readings are available in centigrade or fahrenheit degrees.
