Velleman 7W Mono Audio Amplifier Kit

I have 10 of these. They were easy to quickly assemble. All of them worked perfectly the first time. I find that they work on a wide range of input voltages. For example, they work just great with two nine volt batteries in series. These amps are ideal for converting small bookshelf speakers to battery-powered self-amplified units.

I bought this unit to boost the sound coming from a notebook computer. The particular application involved using the notebook running GPS software to provide turn by turn driving instructions. Neither the internal speakers, nor the inexpensive computer desktop speakers would produce enough volume to make the instructions clearly audible above the noise made by the vehicle (a diesel powered lift bus). This amplifier accepted input from the headphone jack on the notebook and powered a 4" speaker at sufficient volume to do the job.
