These 25mm OEM grade transducers (also known as exciters) were originally used in Marcato outdoor audio systems. When attached to any surface, transducers will convert virtually anything into a "sound board". Test your transducer on a variety of surfaces. Once you have decided where to place the transducer, you will need to glue it down. We recommend a gel type glue, available from Parts Express. The glue will allow you to permanently mount your transducers. To properly glue, place a small bead/dots on the transducer feet pads and around the edge of the voice coil. It's extremely important that you are sure of the mounting location, as removal of the transducer after mounting may permanently damage the device. After applying the glue on the transducer feet, take a small cloth, dab with the gel type glue and wipe around the edge of the voice coil. Place the exciter on the surface and position for optimum performance, press and hold. After 20 seconds the glue will be hardened and the exciter sticks to the panel. Transducer pair comes with a 6dB high pass filter, wired in serial for 8 ohm applications. Units can be separated and used individually. Glue not included. Transducer Specifications: • Power handling: 10W RMS • Impedance: 4 ohms • VCdia: 1" • Dimensions: 3-1/2" dia. x 3/4".
  • Turn any solid surface into a great sounding speaker system
  • Create a completely hidden surround sound system
  • Wideband frequency response (dependent on attached material)

After some alterations-EXCELLENT
Thursday, January 7, 2010
akreig2 from Illinois

After removing the filter and the casing of the device (i.e. the white plastic) and mounting on a suitable surface these transducers really sing I used a 24 by 30 sheet of 1/8 inch birch plywood. This material is still a little too heavy for using as a NXT Speaker like device, but provides the bass many other materials lack. For each speaker 4 transducers + 1 cheap full range was used .the efficiency of the speaker is not high, but when suitably powered these can be very loud. For the 24 dollars spent on the speakers and 20 bucks for the materials these have proved to be some of the best <50 dollar speakers I have ever heard. One last thought, after these were stained, they look gorgeous and it s hard to think of anyone objecting to these being on display in a living room

I think it is just for fun

Got this just because I was curious. It is kind of fun to see what would make it sound the best. It seems like it is not the feet that needs to be attached to the surface, but the body. Anyways, it sounds best attached to my plastic waste basket. I couldn't imagine using it for anything serious, but I am just a novice

Truly invisible sound
Tuesday, November 24, 2009
Parts Express Customer from Unknown Location

I've installed these transducers in the ceiling throughout my kitchen and dining room and they work quite nicely. I wasn't so sure from the other reviews how well they'd work through drywall, but they work fairly well. At least, if you have enough of them anyhow. I ordered 8 pair (still only $40) and that did the trick.

I also removed the high pass filters since I wasn't sure how the combination of parallel and series wiring would affect them. I can't vouch for foam board or doors, but through drywall there is next to no bass response and I will be adding a (sub)woofer to fill in the lows.

Final note, have a few kinds of super glue on hand, because the first one I tried didn't work so well.
