BIC Venturi DV32-B 3-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair Black

I use a set for rear surround speakers and they do a very good job for that.
Bass not needed, they are efficient and handle a fair amount of power.
No distortion during loud movie passages.

This is the first product I have purchased from Parts Express with which I have been completely dissatisfied.

The frequency specifications are pure fiction.

These speakers produce no bass, certainly nothing under 250 Hz and, surprisingly, the treble response is almost as poor.

I played a recording by Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester; one of the songs was HEARTACHES, using the Ted Weems arrangement, in which one of the choruses is of a whistler. The whistling was so attenuated that one could barely hear it. I was quite surprised.

On several other (classical) recordings with which I am equally familiar, there was no bass audible at all. I was using the Dayton Audio DTA-1, a superb amplifier I recommend to all, and my unit is operating correctly. I have used it previously with several other speakers and the sound it produces is excellent.

In my opinion, it is just these speakers which are bad. I'm certain that my pair was not damaged as the sound from both speakers was the same. I had had hopes for these speakers, desiring small ones which I could carry about along with that DTA-1 amp.

I recommend that anyone considering these speakers approach them with caution. Based on my own experience, I believe that few people would actually be satisfied with them.

Fortunately, Parts Express has a liberal return policy and I sent mine back.
