MTX Monitor 60i Dual 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair

Not quite as much low end as I'd hoped for but the speaker does deliver, what is there, cleanly. Nice sturdy binding posts and the craftsmenship seems very nice.

High-Fidelity quality sound.
And since these have a sensitivity of 92dB they will play loud with little amplifier effort so they will make a lower powered system sound big without sounding strained or straining the amplifier.
Would also do very well as a stand alone bookshelf stereo system and as a surround speaker too.
Bought these to match the MTX 6C Center and the timbre is matched perfectly.
Superior build quality too.

I actually came across the 60is at an H.H. Gregg sitting on the 'floor model' sale table. They were priced at $100 for a pair which I thought was a very good price for MTX equipment.

To match, I purchased an Onkyo TX-SR304 receiver and Yamaha YST-SW216 10" side-firing subwoofer and was much impressed. The frequency curve of these MTX bookshelf speakers is very flat until about 180 Hz where it begins to roll off. Highs are crisp and mids are fairly warm although sometimes underrepresented. Soundstage is not very large, however, as these units benefit GREATLY from being raised to listening level.

An excellent pair of bookshelf units for a den or surrounds for home theater, but shouldn't be used as front channels for a good-sized system.
