The patented dual-motor LAT 250 is designed to provide strong bass performance in a new vibration-free, cylindrical form factor. The driver may be configured for use in sealed, vented, bandpass, or open-baffle enclosures, and provides high bass output from a very compact transducer. In typical applications, the Tymphany LAT 250 has mechanical vibration more than 90% less than comparable loudspeakers, even at full output.
Paired with the appropriate high frequency driver, the Tymphany LAT 250 is an ideal solution for lifestyle consumer electronics products such as flat panel TVs and sound bars, MP3 and cell phone docking stations, multimedia PCs, and other small devices.
Note: The nominal impedance is calculated with both 4 ohm coils driven in parallel.

Good 10 inch Woofer Or 8 inch Music Sub Thursday, November 19, 2009 Skullwurx from L'Epiphanie , Quebec , Canada
Being Canadian , I paid more than $25ea. ...more like $37(CDN)ea. , because of customs-salestaxes-handling fees . In Canada , LAT250s cost a little shy of $100(with sales tax), each!
But , after much waiting ( postal mixup) ,I am impressed with the LAT250s perfomance . First test , straight out of the box was an "Open Baffle" configuration , no crossover (my base test on drivers). No Distortion with a highend of more-or-less 1600HZ ? Wow! It's comparable to the output of a decent 10 inch woofer (in an open baffle configuration) . As a sub , further tests will probably tell me that the LAT250s are great 8 inch "Music" subwoofers . But , with no distortion , which really impresses me , we're talking "High-End" 8 inch musical subwoofer . With really powerful bass for 5or7 speaker Home Theater . The (point)"." 1 should be left for a subwoofer , for the really low-end bass . The Lats bottom-out at around 50HZ or more . No "earthquake" there , for sure . And don't forget , "dual coils" at 4ohms each . Good for 2-8 ohms , for single driver . Or 2x4 ohms for a 2.1 speaker setup . Lots of options . Enclosures can be downsized from what space regular circular drivers(8 or 10 inch) take up , without skimping of performance.
Overall , 1- Not Expensive ($25US-$37CDN)
2- Great Performance (Distortion-Free)
3- Lots of Flexibility (in Wiring/Boxes)
I highly recommend this product for all DIY speaker builders .

Very good build Friday, November 13, 2009 wwearlyjr from NOVA
Very sturdy, Not quite as sensative as I like but with proper attenuation of the tweeter, Does quite well in a 5.1 setup. I recomend you keep a powered sub in service though, For the really deep notes, But for 25 bucks each they are just the ticket for me

Good sound quality Saturday, November 7, 2009 wwearlyjr from NOVA
25 bucks, Worth the risk !....They have a good even sound. Use them with Bohlender neo 8's to make a 5.1 system. Keep your sub though. I had to use an 8 ohm resister on the ribbons to bring the SPL of the neo 8's in line with the lats, The sound quality with them together is SQ all the way..... I recomend them HIGHLY for a sound quality ststem. They can handle some power, Have some to feed them. Very happy and suggest them for a good satilite system, Versital wireing, However not very efficient wired at more than 2 ohms, Use resistors to get back to 4 ohm load, Resistor value depends on the tweeter. Good luck and happy experimenting.
