Peavey RD 1.6 Versarray Ribbon Tweeter 7 Ohm
Peavey used the RD 1.6 ribbon tweeter in their acclaimed Versarray™ series of line array speakers to set a new benchmark for high fidelity, in sound reinforcement applications, while retaining high sensitivity and wide dispersion.
A 4.72" high by 0.31" wide sandwiched-aluminum diaphragm is immersed in magnetic flux from the neodymium magnet, and a built-in, step-up transformer keeps the impedance at a benign 7 ohm load for simple crossover calculation while maximizing output for a high 97 dB sensitivity at 2.83V.
The natural planar wavefront of the RD 1.6 minimizes vertical off-axis dispersion, making this tweeter conducive to a stacked line array design with minimal comb filtering effects. Horizontal off-axis dispersion remains nearly flat to 45° from the high-pass crossover point (2,500 Hz @ 18 dB/octave is recommended) out to 40,000 Hz. This increases the sweet spot, for life-like imaging across a wider sound stage.
