SOLD OUT!! Peerless 830941 SDS 5-1/4" Shielded Woofer

There are better midwoofers out there but not for the money. These worked perfectly in a .38 cubic foot ported enclosure. The bass was perfect with a ~4.5" x 2" port. The response is very smooth except for a very small breakup around 6Khz. The off axis response has no surprises. They aren't the last name in midrange resolution but are very pleasing to listen to. Being able to surface mount them was a big plus. This mixed great with a Dayton Neo tweeter in a Dayton waveguide. Perhaps I should post that design. It's far too easy to build and the simple crossover is affordable as well.
These will not create the "be all-end all" speaker for you but for the money they create a very enjoyable speaker that all but the most discriminating will love. I use them in my "extra" system.
I was hesitant to give these woofers a good review because I am thinking of buying more and building some MTMs using them. These are perfect for small-ish HT speakers.

I originally wanted more of the HDS woofers but they sold out, so I got these instead. at $14.50 each for qty. 4, they're perfect for a cheap MTM considering they have a truncated flange. Very easy to work with frequency response.
