Ingenious design
Friday, January 29, 2010
Ken Bird Ham Call W0KLB from Lincoln, MO

As someone who once made their living designing electronic products, I want to commend the guy who designed these transducers.( No doubt some Asian engineer with a degree from a US University.) Evidently they were designed for use in today's thin TV screens as their response characteristics lean toward good speech intelligilibity. As a HAM, I found these speakers sound great on both speech and code signals, performing much better than the onboard speakers in my HAM rigs. They also make fine computer speakers, just leave them in their housings and stand them on end on each side of your screen.

What really surprised me was their performance on music. Oh they don't have much low end, but the midrange and highs are very good, with sharp imaging. They should make a fine line array speaker system. Stack four or five per side and add a 6 or eight inch subwoofer, crossing at about 1000 Hz and you might be very pleased with the results. But you better hurry and place an order-once the word gets out on the web forums they won't last long.

I used 5 of these speakers for a center channel speaker in a PT cruiser. It works awesome and gives a great sound. Definetly worth the money.

Great Soundbars & Arrays !
Monday, November 16, 2009
Skullwurx from Epiphanie , Quebec , Canada

They're powerful little full-range speakers with fairly big braced and insulated enclosures. . . Especially when you stack them one on top of each other ...in my case 5 high (series¶llel wiring for 4ohms). Now I got 2 narrow bedpost-sized rear surrounds , instead of my old huge 3 way Altec Lansings (they did their time), in my small HT Den . Overall , the mids smoothed out alot , the more I stacked them . Of course , you can't expect any low-end bass . Roll-off is at about 90-100HZ .But that's no problem for me . I've got 2 parkbench-sized TL Subs that handle all the bass needed to fill the gap . The highend is a little lacking for sure (18Khz max) ... maybe a tweeter and capacitor (4.7-2.2 uf range) will do the trick . I'm gonna wait a while, before fooling around with my crossover kits . They sound great , as they are right now (need tweeters though). Ordered 30 , used 10 for surrounds , will use 15 for left-center-right . The remaining 5 will be spares (you never know) . I Recommend these JVCs highly for the DIY crowd !
