Tang Band W8-1808 8" Neodymium Full Range Driver

This higher Q version is easy to work with and produces deep well controlled bass in a simple reflex box (2-3 cuft). Experiment with stuffing, the cone is thin and does not mask box resonance/reflections.

The midrange is simply amazing!! It remains smooth and detailed through the 2k to 4k region where the Fostex and Lowther 8" units tend to become overly agressive.

The top octaves are the weak spot of this otherwise superb driver. My personal taste is to hear a bit more "sparkle" on the top octaves. I plan to experiment by adding a ribbon tweeter.

I am using this driver in a 90 liter box with the PE 4.5 flared port. I am getting great bass and treble. This has become my favorite speaker for any kind of music.

I had a 90 liter bass reflex cabinet I built for a hemp acoustics fr8 driver sitting in the closet gathering dust because I never could fix the ragged shoutiness in the upper mid-range of the fr8. This driver dropped into the cabinet with no modifications. It is very smooth and detailed at the same time. It may seem a little pricey but you get what you pay for as they say. I have been listening for hours now. This may be the perfect full-range driver.
