Whole-house audio is now easier thanks to Sherwood. The RX-5502 is designed to provide complete stereo receiver control and amplification to two "zones" at the same time. You can now listen to your favorite albums, CDs, or DVDs—while the ballgame is on the radio in another room. Four dedicated speaker outputs ensure a straightforward connect-and-forget system that brings audio into four separate rooms. With the installation of IR repeater systems (not included), you don't even need to install local volume controls. Dual TDAS® Discrete Amp Stage amplifiers drive two pairs of stereo speakers (each in parallel) and ensure reliable sound quality that most whole house audio amplifiers fail to deliver. 400 watts of genuine power lets you crank the volume without running out of headroom. Four analog stereo inputs, one phono input, and one analog stereo output. Good functionality for the price

Compared to other receivers, it's not bad for the price, 4 channels w/ 2 independent zones...
...not bad for under $200. I'm over $300 for Onkyo and over $400 for Denon to get independent zone functions(these units do alot more though), but the simplicity of the zone fuctions and channel usage are great for people not lookin' to be overwhelmed by fuctions and sound dimensions, but simply just want some audio in different locations

Tone Controls have broad Bandwidth so that they truly don't pump up just the Lows or Highs you want. The Speaker Ohms required, to use all 4 Sets of Speakers, in the Instructions are very confusing considering that there are 2 Stereo Amps within the unit. It should handle 8 Ohms for all, not 16 Ohm minimums.

My only complaint is that it's a little clunky as far as the controls go. Bit of a pain to tune the radio and get presets done.
