Esoteric ECVK2-5M Component Video Cable 5m

I'am now using this cable to connect my Philips DVD-R 3575H/37 HDD dvd recorder. It has a hdmi out,and is supposed to upscale to 1080p . Well after connecting the hdmi cable, I was disapointed with picture quality. All dvds' played were very dark ,so dark that with brightness, contrast and sharpness turned all the way up, the pictured still looked terrible (dark). So I dissconnected my esoteric from my old 02 player,and used it to connect the Philips via its component video out,I connected it directly to my Samsung HL-T 5689s HDTV, which will produce a signal at 1080p, This cable is rated at 1080i,and acctually does produce it. The picture was extremely well looking,and I could not tell the difference between it and my Sony DVP-NS700H HDMI 1080p upscaling player, which upscales beautifally with standard DVDs'. I have 2 THX Monster video component cables,and I'm using 1 to connect the old 02 player to my reciever. The sony is connected via HDMI. The Esoteric produces a signal 100 times better than the Monster,and I now keep this cable permanently connected to my Philips. If it hadent have been for this cable, I would have returned the Philips DVD-HDD recorder. I will be buying another one for my old 02 player,as I'm convinced this cable is the best. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I purchased this cable to run from my old 02 dvd player that doesnt have hdmi out, to my suprise , it not only performed to its promised 1081 i video specs,then I upconverted it to only 720 p,it looks better than my philips 1080 p upconverter. I will be trading in my current cable box for a high definition box which has both component and hdmi out. I have the imputs both on my harman kardon reciever, and my samsung HL-T 5689s monitor to support both connections,, I'am sure to buy at least one more of these cables, and add another hdmi ( the current hdmi's I have are also esoteric,and support 1080 p )I use the hdmi for the video out to my monitor from my reciever, and can upconvert to 720 p , it does well with the older dvd player and analog video. This component video cable BY ITSELF, looks better than both reciever, and direct connect to the monitor. I would highly recommend this cable to anyone wanting a high quality video cable. Oh ,to you monster cable fans , I have 10 monster cables, in both audio and video (including component) and this esoteric cable literally puts it to shame, (to be fare the monsters are not very expensive, and I would have to spend twice as much or more to compare them to the esoteric). So its easy,, the esoteric is a great cable that doesnt leave you as broke as others.
