The 291 is a small, shelf-top IR receiver with a wide range of applications. It can be used as an inexpensive way of repeating IR commands when a wall-mounted IR receiver is not practical. As with all Xantech IR receivers, the 291 can tie into multi-room IR extension systems. The 291 shelf-top repeater assembly is equipped with a 7-foot cable and 3.5 mm stereo mini plug, which is plugged directly into the "IR RCVR" jack on the CB12. It can also be plugged into the "AUX" or "IR RCVR" jack of other Xantech connecting blocks. The 291-10 is primarily intended for use in installations where the connecting block is within reach of its 7-foot cable. It includes a 291-00 IR Receiver and a CB12 Connecting Block.

The product works great! Friday, May 15, 2009 David from Harrison, TN
The product works very well in my boat's small stateroom where there was no room to mount a digital to analog TV converter where it would work with the remote. Just be aware that you need to order a power supply and an emitter to have all the parts needed to control a device. I don't know why they don't package these together.

Product Reliability Friday, March 6, 2009 Jon R from Pennsylvania
This is the 2nd purchase that I made of this product. The first one failed after 2 years of use. Appears to have been a component failure probably component shorted. Other wise the product works well

Flawless reception of IR Monday, February 2, 2009 Mark Fletcher from Carmel, Indiana
I have been frustrated with my Xantech Dinky Link IR target. It did pick up the IR commands but only if you were within 10 feet and direct on with the target. I finally bit the bullet and replaced the target with this one and could not be more pleased with its ability to receive IR commands from 25 feet away and a much wider angle.
The target does flash a red LED to signal IR reception. I would like the ability to turn this off but this is a minor annoyance.
