Dayton QMBF 1/4" Mono Big Fatty Phone Plug

These are heavy duty and a perfect fit for large gauge speaker wire

I do not believe this 1/4 plug" adheres to the design specs of a 1/4" plug. The distance from the black non conductor ring and the tip is greater than any standard 1/4" cable I've seen. You might even notice this in the pictures if you compare and look closely. I compared this to 3 other brands of 1/4" connectors. The tip of this one was different. The 3 others were the same.

I used these connectors to make my own speaker cable for my Marshall guitar head and cabinet. The plug did not work on the cabinet side unless you pulled it out a little bit...due to the greater length as I described.

Conforming strictly to the 1/4" standard is VERY important with speaker connections. Last thing I need is to worry about a connector blowing up my amp.

This connector is a liability. Get the Switchcraft.

I have used both brands of these big barreled connectors and this is the one I prefer. The weak spot is generally where the 1/4 inch barrel egresses from the main body. The other brand uses a more brittle material to make it stiffer, but then if it is over stressed, it breaks. This one is softer so it bends and keeps on working. Stll not a perfect solution, but the better choice of the two available.
