it WILL shake the floor..... Thursday, September 3, 2009

I have this in about 2.7 cu/ft tuned port enclosure with a plate amp. The amp is turned up very little, but this speaker really puts out on the explosions, or music with deep bass. It is my rear sub with 2 satelite speakers, and the front are 3 way 15" systems. There is a complete tonal difference between 3 way systems, and sub / satelite system, and I found they fit together well.

Don't believe the Hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday, February 19, 2009
Arron from Seattle
I purchased this subwoofer to run as a dedicated home theater sub. I've tried it with amps as low powered as 200 watts and as high powered as 2500 watts and no matter what source of power is used, this subwoofer easily bottoms out.
I've tried 1.4 cu ft boxes sealed as well as 3.1 cu ft boxes ported (all boxes built professionally and within specs).
With music, it's OK, but it even bottoms out with led zepplin!! Come on!

This is really an excellent driver - it is equally suited to ported and sealed enclosures, the trade- off being you need a large box (in my case, 4.369 cubic feet) for it to perform in either. In the ported enclosure the f3 is about 21.5 Hz - in the sealed it's much higher but it is only -10 at 20 Hz, an excellent candidate for a linkwitz transform. As of yet I only have it in a sealed (which will soon be modified to test the ported capabilities as well), and it performs. It is not a bunch of low-end muck, it is smooth, clean, quality bass, and it is still pretty loud at low frequencies. Add the port if you want ridiculously loud low bass for like HT or something (although the sealed performs for HT as well, you'd probably just need two ). Put some 20 Hz test tones through it and watch everything hanging on your walls fall to the ground.
