Bash 300W Digital Subwoofer Amplifier

Installed this amp into my old Cerwin-Vega HT12 passive subwoofer cab. I wired the two coils to reach a 4 ohm load. 300 watts is more than this 12" was made for, but it is loud and clean. This sub has never thumped and growled like it does now. I have it a little under half volume and it gets overwhelming. I love it. I did all the work outside on a blanket. In open space, connected to my iPod, it was rattling things in the house and garage. Outdoor theatre anyone?

I bought this to power my KEF AV-1 that came with a 200w RMS amplifier. I can't turn the gain up above 1/4 of the way. It's just overwhelming.

I was afraid that the 300w rating wouldn't be genuine, and that this amp would not have enough mojo. WRONG. The amp doesn't get hot. I built a separate enclosure. I'm running it as a stand alone unit as opposed to cutting into a $3500 subwoofer.

I was really happy when I found this amp. In fact I was so happy I immediately ordered three of them, without ever having hear one play.

In retrospect that might have been a bit rushed. Because when I got them I discovered that they were 120Vac only. Which was a problem for me, since we have 230Vac here in Sweden.

Anyway, since it was a digital amp with a switched mode power supply (basically digital too). I figured it shouldn't be too hard to convert it to run on 230Vac.
I set about studying the input circuit and soon discovered two jumper wires that needed to be replaced with another wire. And really, that's how simple it was. I'll post a pic or two for anyone else who might want to convert one. Just go to www.jjensen.se/bash_300s.html
