The DA-550 series distribution systems are designed with the highest headroom available in a distribution amplifier and are able to handle the ultra-wide bandwidth of HDTV broadcasts. They provide outputs to 8 televisions with cable runs up to 150 feet, and accept three inputs, one from CATV or off-air antenna and two from modulators. They are equipped with an IR engine that allows infrared control from any of the 8 TV locations when used with the 2100 series IR components. They can be mounted directly on the wall or inside the 2601 or 2603 network enclosures. The DA-550HHR is used with high-performance antenna applications for off-air digital and NTSC signals. The DA-550BID offers return path for bi-directional communication with cable boxes and pay-per-view applications. Power supply included.

I have three of these in my house, and they only last a few years. Not sure what makes these things so complex and prone to failure, but they are expensive for a few years of use.

I've used this amp to take incoming cable feeds, inject in-house modulated channels, and then distribute the combined RF signal throughout buildings. For larger installations, I ve cascaded several in a row. Results were satisfactory. The remote-power future comes in handy when needed. As always, appropriate cable, hardware and network design must be used. Do not install terminators on the amp itself.
