Dayton Audio designed the Titanic MkIII subwoofer kits to give you the performance you demand, at a price that makes plain common sense. Why buy a mass-market subwoofer that often has a markup of well over 10 times the cost of the parts? If you are lucky, you are getting a $20 woofer and a $20 amplifier. With the Titanic subwoofer kits, you know exactly what you are getting -- nothing but the best in cabinets, drivers, and amplifiers.
Each system features one of our legendary Titanic MkIII subwoofer drivers -- U.S.A.-built behemoths known for their excellent build quality and awesome low frequency performance. The driver is precisely mated with a high-power Dayton Audio amplifier that exploits the woofer's massive potential and provides the best sound quality and highest output levels.
Driver and amp are housed in a rigid, acoustically inert 3/4" MDF enclosure featuring an internal brace, a special satin-textured enamel finish, 1/4" roundovers on all edges, and a 1" thick MDF grill. Black chrome spikes, included with the system, rigidly couple the cabinet to the floor for improved bass clarity and output, while also adding a very classy and elegant touch. The finished systems are unobtrusive in appearance, but deliver awesome bass performance that is truly "titanic" in proportion.
Titanic systems are available in an easily assembled kit form that requires a few basic hand tools and approximately one hour to complete. A subwoofer driver, amplifier, and custom cabinet are included, along with instructions and all necessary hardware. The cabinet itself is ready-to-go because the hard work has already been done: driver cutout, amplifier cutout, pre-installed T-nuts for driver mounting, and pre-installed T-nuts for the floor spikes.
Good sub..above average performance.. NEEDS A PORT Thursday, November 5, 2009 Ian from Myrtle Beach, SC
I bought this sub becasue of the price, and Dayton makes great drivers, and the amp is awesome, especially witht the parametric equalizer. Assemly was a snap, and all are quality parts, and was alot of fun to assemble. The subs output is smooth we hit around 112 average SPL's in my 15x35x9 room with a peak of about 118 dB's during transformers. The sub had to be adjusted down due to clipping, so I am assuming the sub is underpowered being a sealed enclosure. This sub drastically needs a port, and if it did (tuned around 25Hz) it would have alot better output and would solve the clipping amp issues. Overall it's a great value and a good product, def better output than the DD-18 (with more harmonic distortion of course) at a fraction of the price.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday, March 5, 2009 lungehunter from Oak Forest, Il
This sub replaced a Klipsch sw12ii. After breaking in, watched War of the Worlds in THX. Incredible! Felt like my home was being invaded. The kit calls for adhesive spray for the acoustic foam install which you sould use.
the hardest part of putting the kit together was fitting the foam in place. It only took me about 45 minutes until power-up. Delivery only took 2 days through ground ups. I dont know about the technical jargon just play around with the eq till you get what you want. As previously stated in another review dont even think about it. If your in the market for a sub...get it!!!

Great parts, not so sure about the cabinet Monday, September 22, 2008 Parts Express Customer from Richwood, OH
The driver, amplifier, and other pieces-parts are pretty darn nice. The cabinet is the weak point in this setup, but frankly, I bought the kit for the parts. Use the cabinet for awhile, then build your own cabinet to create an awesome sub.
