Vifa PL18WO-09-08 7" Cast Frame Midwoofer

First of all, it's very hard to find certain sized speakers. While converting an old bass guitar cabinet to a full-range cabinet, I had a 6" port I wanted to put a mid-range speaker in without having to cut the cabinet up significantly. The speaker was a near-perfect fit and sound good.

This woofer if very well desgined for transmission sytle systems, which is uncommon for its price range. Most woofers people use in T-lines cost around $150-$500

The cone is made to lower unwanted waves, which can be a problem with other woofers; and a very high Xmas allow this woofer to bring a transmission line to its full potential. It also has good power handling for its size which is great for T-lines too because they tend to lower the woofers RMS by a good bit. The Q could be lower but if you use low AWG iron core style inductor in its Xover circuits its low enough.

I have not seen any other woofer made this well for transmission lines for under $150. Very great value here!

My transmission line is a stuffed pipe style 2-way tower. They hit down to about 30Hz, 40Hz and up are sub-woofer loud! Most people that hear them alone think the sub is on! To top it off after a few days of break in time this woofer's mids are true audiophile grade. I run them up to about 2200hz at which a Morel dome tweeter takes over. The woofer sounds nice untill about 5khz but your tweeter would have to be inside the woofer to create a point source at that high of a Xover.

I've used this driver for years - I'm always saying I'm going to use another driver but when it comes to planning the crossovers etc. I always fall back on these drives. They produce an incredible frequency spectrum with great depth and sound stage, and I give more credit to the drivers than I do my cabinets. That's being modest but the honest truth is they are awesome drivers. Lovem' !!!!
