Tang Band 25-1166SJ 1" Neodymium Tweeter

I am using these with Dayton 2" midranges which I also recently purchased, in a 4-way car system. These are actively crossed at 5k up. Not completely broken in yet, but they are producing an effortless sound - I can't detect harshness like I had with my previous CDT Audio tweeters. I marked performance at 4.5 instead of 5 since it seems the frequency response trails off in the upper end. It could be due to placement/position of the tweeters, I need to investigate it.

I bought a pair of these about two years ago for my car's high end. I run a 3-way active crossover pioneer setup, with pioneer mids, infinity perfect 10" low, and these for the highs. Most people can't believe what type of sound i get from 5 speakers. My favorite part about these speakers is their frequency range. The soundstage that they present is truly amazing. For $20 each they are a great buy.

I tried to like this tweeter. As with other TB products, I was impressed with its apparent build quality. Its versatile size and good looks are a plus. I tested several speaker arrangements and dozens of crossover variations for over a year, finally concluding it was not good enough for main speaker duty. I settled on a 6" MT used as rear surrounds.
While it does have a well damped sound that is never harsh, it lacks the impact, resolution and effortless highs of some larger drivers.
For best sound, avoid first-order crossovers. Try 12db at 3000hz as a starting point, since these do not work well down low.
