How can they make low bass? Friday, May 29, 2009
Memomaster from Indianapolis, IN
I've reviewed these before, and they are a blast and fun. I got three before for $19 each and they were used in a computer 2.1 project and in cars, and they work perfect for that. I sold the car and ended up taking the 2.1 system apart and bought another one at $33 so I could put 4 in one sub.
I just got done building it and at the moment, I've been playing with it in my stereo. Hooked up properly to a low level sub output, it does have a surprising kick to them and can even shake things. I built this for a HT sub and it will work. At the moment, I have it hooked up to my main stereo speakers and they are seas drivers and very clean. As cool and fun as this thing is, it's not clean enough for my stereo setup.
I don't have any regrets, but I'm glad I got the first three on sale. If I had paid $33 for 4 of them, it would be way more cost effective to just go with a bigger sub. IMO $33 is really pushing it. With 4 of them though, they don't need nearly as much power.
Use these and it's bigger brothers for HT and cars. They do have lower distortion compared to a lot of commercial subs I've heard, but not high end.
