Cast Frame #10-32 Speaker Mounting Kit

I used this kit with a Dayton RSS265HF 10" sub in a Dayton SWC-2 enclosure (3/4" MDF). The black 10-32 UNF cap screws are great, but the T-nuts are way too large in diameter for this application, and ugly to boot.

I routed my cutout as small as possible but the T-nuts stick over the edge and only 3 of the 4 spikes are in the wood. It was either that or have 2 spikes so close to the edge they would have easily broken the MDF. But despite this major problem they grip the wood extremely well. Leave the hammer in the toolbox, install the nuts by screwing in, and there should be no need to add glue. Watch out if you're using this kit with less than 3/4" MDF or using a flush speaker mount; the cap screws have an 1/4" unthreaded part plus the T-nut thread part is 1/4".

Next time instead of T-nuts I will definitely try hurricane nuts (PE 081-1082) which have had only excellent reviews. Incidentally 10-32 UNF is a very common size and is used for all rack mount applications. I couldn't find any 10-24 UNC nuts or bolts in my hardware collection.

Parts Express should change this mounting kit to use hurricane nuts or offer them as an alternative to T-nuts.

I used these to mount a 10" subwoofer on 3/4" MDF. They look rugged and professional after the install. The great thing about them is that you can change out your subwoofer easily.

These are a great value if you are buying a few items off here. Otherwise if you purchase them alone the price of shipping would negate any savings.
