Good choice for this job. Thursday, October 29, 2009
Steve from Armed Forces Pacific
A previous reviewer recommended buying this product one size larger than the speaker you plan to protect, and I agree. This isn't because the grill is too small, but because it is sized exactly and will probably allow the edge to show through. Another reason to go up one size is to maximize airflow.
I'm using these grills to prtect the passive radiators on my Klipsch KG-4's and ChorusII's. 15" grills on the KG's and 18" grills on the Chorus work exactly right. The trick with these speakers was to avoid obstructing the rear hook-up and crossover box. Take your time measuring and laying the installation out.
If you've got some spare speaker cloth lying around, you can remove the grill's rubber outer trim ring and lay the cloth on it. Stretch it out, replace the ring and trim the cloth. Keeps the kids from getting too curious, and looks good.
I used the 260-352 Penn-Elcom heavy duty clamp kit which also worked well.

Good for flush mounted 15s, surface mounted 18's Friday, November 30, 2007
SavantStrike from PA
I dont have any 18s to test this out on, but my 15's were unable to use a standard waffle style grille when flush mounted. I just used the next size up, which was this set. Very pleased with it!
The only problem you will run into with this type of a setup is there is a slight gap between the standard brackets and the grille frame if you don't have a speaker directly behind them (like my situation where there was just a flat box behind the grilles). The rubber edge on the frame keeps them from ratting, which is all I cared about.. Bottom line, they work quite well!

Absolutely essential hardware Saturday, September 15, 2007
Don from Orrtanna, PA
It's a perfect fit for all my 18" drivers and it is absolutely essential. Vinyl coated and with cushioned mounting it dows not buzz under loud LF. Use TWO sets of heavy duty grill clamps though. 18" is awfully big around for just one set. The grid spacing isn't too small, but is does protect against a stray thumb or finger or thrown solid object. I can't hear that it introduces any distortion. And it gives a good professional appearance.
