don't know why they are so expensive Monday, May 4, 2009
Billy from Pittsbrugh, PA
I needed to upgrade the power cables to my power amps. I didn't feel like the 14awg cable that came with them was good enough because the amps are rated to draw more than 20amps. I used carol 3co. 12awg SOOW. Bought the cable at the Home Depot... Best store EVER!!! It barely fit in through the boot and the retaining clip which is fine, it just won't work with anything bigger though. I did see someone had mentioned a stripped retaining clamp and from close examination of the plug I can see where they are coming from. The retaining clamps aren't insanely beefy but they do the job if you are careful. It is also a pain because you can't see how much you have clamped the cable because the retaining clamp is under the boot. The over all design isn't bad and gets the job done. The connectors look professional grade and will for sure give you some street credit. I didn't notice a big difference in sound and dynamics between the new and old cables but now I have road worthy cables that will last a long time. Yes, it is overpriced for what you are getting. Don't know what's up with that, hopefully it will be worth it in the long run.
