Tough Stuff Tuesday, March 18, 2008

This is tough cable, as advertised. The inner insulation is very tough - like nylon. It's a bit hard to strip. The cable is still very flexible, but not super flexible. The shield braid weave is very tight to make a noiseless balananced connection. The only drawback is possibly whether you need something this tough.
Making your own cables is the only way to go. This way various types of gear can best be matched. Plus, the connectors can be disassembled for inspection, repair, or reconfiguration. Companies like Crown and Rayne have guides to help in optimal cable configurations.
