Works and sound fine...needs a visual makeover Sunday, May 17, 2009
William from Hamden, CT
I replaced the 47uf 100v caps on the woofer section of my 1988 Klipsch Fortes with a pair of these.
The old caps spec'd out on a multimeter, but after 20 years I suspect they were drying up. Interestingly the new caps opened up the soundstage and made imaging more rock solid...something I would not have expected from upgrading the woofers. Perhaps I had a bad solder joint to begin with. In any case these seem like great sonic upgrades...noone else sells 100V biplar caps based on sound quality.
My only suggestion is that Parts-Express should do something to "dress-up" the caps, especially if selling them next to their own line of 1% polyproylene films. Even changing the wrappers from boring black to s bright color would make them seem more upscale. How about a purple 100v bipolar cap with 5% tolerance...?
