Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refurbish Snell Type 1 LoudspeakersI bought this to replace some horrible speaker grill fabric with the correct foam. I used 3M Multipurpose Adhesive spray from an auto parts store and sprayed it on the frame. I made sure the top was aligned and then lowered the frame onto the laid out foam. And then used a NEW razor blade to trim the other sides. Great result!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Foam Speaker GrillI used the Foam Grill Material to repair some small column speakers in a Church. I was careful to select a glue that would not dissolve the foam material. I used 3M Automotive Weather Strip Glue, which sets up fairly fast. It worked quite well. Cutting the foam to size is best done by laying it on cardboard, on the floor--place a straight edge on the foam and compress it as flat as possible and cut along the straight edge with several light passes of a very sharp utility blade. Clean and straight cuts are then possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacment Grill for Outdoor SpeakersSquirrels and birds had picked away at the protective foam on my OM-200 in ground patio speakers. Purchased this Grill and cut into 2 inch strips, used spray contact cement, then wrapped it over the existing protective foam. Worked like a champ!

Is this the same foam that HK speakers use?

Asked by: Apryor
Unfortunately we do not have a reference for this type of thing. If the thickness is the same or close, chances are it will be similar enough not to matter. It will all be acoustically transparent so if you are replacing the old grills this will have no effect on sound.

Right now my old foam is attached to a pressbord type material. I am thinking of replacing the pressboard with 1/4" luan plywood. What is the best way to attach the foam to the new plywood or the old pressboard? Thank you.

Asked by: tjack1957
Your best bet would be a spray adhesive like Super 77 which you can see below.http://www.parts-express.com/3m-super-77-spray-glue-adhesive-24-fl-oz---1675-oz-net-wt--340-255
